Shelter Dog Looks Completely Different After Colorado Rescuer Takes A Chance On Him
During a routine shelter walk-through, a Colorado rescuer found a half-bald, dirty dog standing quietly in his kennel. One little smile was all it took to secure his freedom and start a beautiful transformation.
A Fateful Shelter Visit
Shelter walk-throughs are a critical part of the rescue process. It is a time to evaluate the animals and see who might be ready for a second chance.
For one rescuer, the goal was simple: check out all the dogs and see if anyone was temperamentally stable enough to join their rescue program.
The kennels are often loud and overwhelming, but sometimes, a quiet soul manages to stand out from the crowd.
That is exactly what happened when she paused in front of one particular kennel, unsure of what to expect from the dog inside.
The Best Little Gentleman
As the rescuer looked into the kennel, she saw a dog who had clearly been through a lot. He was covered in dirt and missing a significant amount of his fur.

He was recently neutered, marking the very last step required before he could officially find a forever family.

Today, Mort is truly one of the rescue’s best available dogs, just waiting for the perfect family to take him home.
