Brave Florida Pug Endures Another Frightening Diagnosis Before Doing Something No One Expected
A spirited Florida pug named Shiloh faced two devastating cancer diagnoses, but his resilient spirit and love for the water helped him bounce back stronger than ever.
A Puppy Looking For His Place

Sometimes, the perfect Florida dog finds his way to you through unexpected circumstances.
A woman’s friend had originally received a pug puppy as a Christmas gift. However, the energetic little dog proved to be a bit much for her to handle on her own.
Knowing the puppy needed a home that could keep up with his spirited personality, the woman and her husband stepped in to adopt him.
They named the sweet boy Shiloh, and he quickly made himself right at home with his new Florida family.
A Very Specific Kind Of Affection

Shiloh quickly developed some hilarious quirks, especially when it came to showing affection.
He formed a deep, special bond with his new dad. Shiloh loves to stretch out, wrap himself around his dad, and lick his head—especially right after his dad shaves it.
But when his mom tries to lean in for a kiss, Shiloh has a very different reaction.
“He’s just like, ‘No, Mom. I don’t like it,'” she joked. He is a dog who knows exactly what he wants.
A Devastating Discovery

Pugs are known for being amazing, affectionate companions, but they can also be prone to extra health issues.
The family’s world was turned upside down when Shiloh was diagnosed with cancer.
They found his first tumor in August. While tumors can be common in pugs, hearing the word “cancer” is always a terrifying moment for any pet parent.
Shiloh proved to be a trooper, going into his first surgery and handling the procedure incredibly well.
An Unexpected Setback

Just as the family was breathing a sigh of relief, they received heartbreaking news.
When they took Shiloh back to the veterinarian to get his surgical stitches removed, the medical team found a second tumor.
The discovery was absolutely devastating for his parents.
They knew their brave little dog would have to endure another medical hurdle just as he was beginning to heal.
The Hardest Part Of Healing

Despite the physical toll of his treatments, Shiloh’s spirit remained completely unbroken.
After his surgeries, he was understandably a little tender, but his mind was still focused on having fun.
He desperately wanted to run and play with his family.
His mom noted that the absolute hardest part of his recovery wasn’t the medical care, but simply trying to keep the energetic pug quiet and still.
Hitting The Open Road

As Shiloh healed, his family made sure he got to experience the best parts of life.
He loves to hang out with his mom, but his special relationship with his dad means they are always getting out to see the world together.
Shiloh is a massive fan of car rides.
He loves nothing more than sticking his head out the window and feeling the breeze as they head toward their next destination.
The Ultimate Adventure Pug

Shiloh’s favorite destination is the beach, where he transforms into a true water sports enthusiast.
His parents take him paddleboarding and kayaking, activities he took to right away.
Fitted with his own little life jacket, the fearless pug will happily sit on the board until he simply falls asleep.
Even more surprising for his breed, Shiloh actually loves to jump into the water and swim, earning him the title of “adventure pug.”
A Reason To Smile

Today, after enduring so much, Shiloh is completely cancer-free.
His mom happily reports that he is 100% recovered from his surgeries and back to his adventurous self.
You can always tell when Shiloh is happy because he flashes a unique smile that shows off all his little bottom teeth.
His family hopes that Shiloh’s brave journey can inspire others facing similar battles, proving that it is always possible to recover and find your smile again.
