California Dog Was Dumped On The Streets With Most Of The Fur Missing From Her Lower Body
After being abandoned on the streets of California, a sweet pit bull named Honey was running out of time. Thankfully, a foster mom and a dedicated rescue stepped in just in time to give her the life she always deserved.
A Heartbreaking Start
Life had not been kind to a sweet dog named Honey.
She was found dumped on the streets of Modesto, California, in terrible condition. Most of the fur on the lower half of her body was completely missing.
With no one to claim her, she found herself in a shelter, facing a grim and uncertain future. She was scheduled to be euthanized, and time was rapidly running out.
A Last-Minute Lifeline
Just one day before she was supposed to be euthanized, a hero stepped in.
A dedicated foster mom decided she couldn’t let Honey’s story end there. She pulled the frightened dog from the shelter, ensuring she was finally safe.
Honey became part of California Bully Rescue, an organization dedicated to giving dogs like her a fighting chance.
Meeting Her Forever Family
Meanwhile, Gianna and her fiancé had been following California Bully Rescue.
When they finally met Honey in person, the connection was instant. There was no hesitation in their minds.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, we’re taking her home,'” Gianna recalled.
Overcoming New Fears
Transitioning to a real home came with a bit of a learning curve for the rescue pup.
Honey was definitely nervous at first. Having never dealt with stairs before, she had to figure out how to navigate them.
The home’s hardwood floors also presented a challenge. She would sometimes slide on the smooth surface, which would briefly scare her.
Settling Into Safety
Despite her initial fears of the new environment, Honey’s overriding emotion was relief.
She was just incredibly happy to finally feel secure. While she had felt safe in her foster home, she got comfortable with Gianna’s family right away.
The days of sleeping on the cold streets were officially behind her.
A Unique And Beautiful Look
As Honey healed, her true beauty really began to shine through.
She is a stunning tan pit bull with the prettiest light green and yellow eyes. Her fur grew back to be incredibly soft.
Interestingly, she has a bit of loose fur, giving her adorable little neck and leg rolls that her family loves.
The Joy Of Tippy Taps
Now that she is happy and healthy, Honey’s personality is fully blooming.
She has a signature move whenever she gets excited: the “tippy taps.”
Whether it’s right before a walk or when she sees her parents making her food, her little feet do a joyful, rapid dance.
A Loyal Little Duckling
To Gianna, Honey is like a little duckling who follows her absolutely everywhere.
If Gianna is cooking, Honey is laying on the kitchen floor. If she’s on the couch, Honey is right there in her lap.
However, when it comes to endless affection, Honey knows exactly who to go to. She loves her dad, going to Gianna’s fiancé for pets because he will gladly pet her for as long as she wants.
The Ultimate Soul Dog
Weighing in at 50 pounds, Honey is actually quite muscular, though people are often shocked by how tiny she is in person.
For Gianna and her fiancé, this small, muscular pit bull has completely taken over their hearts.
“She’s our soul dog,” Gianna shared. “My heart will be broken when she’s gone. I’m obsessed with her.”
