In California, some dogs love to play fetch, while others prefer to spend their days snoozing on a comfortable couch.

But for a sweet dog named Chowder, true happiness comes on four small wheels.

His unique passion has become such a huge part of his life that he even tries to bring his favorite toy to bed with him.

When his owner tells him, “Hey, you can’t take the skateboard to bed, buddy,” Chowder still tries his best to sneak it in.

Chowder’s unusual hobby started quite simply.

His owner had picked up an old skateboard from Goodwill, curious to see what the dog would do with it.

The very first time the board was laid down on the ground, Chowder instinctively knew what to do.

He got right onto his stomach and started rolling himself across the driveway.

Fiercely Independent

From the moment he felt the wheels moving beneath him, Chowder was hooked.

He didn’t want any help from his human family to push him along.

Instead, he was entirely focused on learning how to propel himself forward.

His determination to master the board was incredibly impressive to watch.

Despite his incredible enthusiasm, there was one glaring problem with his thrifted setup.

The old Goodwill board simply wasn’t wide enough for Chowder’s body.

He was trying his absolute hardest to balance, but he kept sort of falling off the edges.

His family knew he needed something better suited for a canine skater.

Seeing his frustration, his family made him a very special promise.

They told him, “Chowder! You’re gonna get a new skateboard!”

They set out to find a board that would give him the stability he needed.

It was time to take his favorite hobby to the next level.

A Very Special Delivery

The delivery driver handed over the large box, noting, “First dog skateboard I’ve ever delivered.”

Chowder’s owner brought the package inside to reveal the surprise.

The dog was immediately curious about the large, mysterious box.

Finally, the perfect canine skateboard was ready to hit the pavement.

Eventually, the sun started to set, and it was time to wrap up the skate session.

His owner called out, “Ready to go home and have some dinner?”

But Chowder completely ignored the offer of food, preferring to stay on his board.

As his owner noted, he isn’t much of a cuddler, but he is incredibly sweet—he just really, really wants to skate.
