Maisy was moments away from being put down simply because she needed a little extra understanding.

Maisy was placed with a loving foster couple who gave her a safe place to decompress.

Meanwhile, a couple named Daniel and Gina were looking to add another dog to their family, and Maisy caught their attention.

Nervous First Impressions

Daniel and Gina arranged a meet-and-greet with Maisy’s foster parents.

Gina explains that Obi has always been her dog, so seeing Daniel get a dog of his own has been wonderful.

Maisy and Obi quickly became best friends, playing together throughout the day.

Following His Scent

While Gina is definitely “mom,” Daniel is undeniably Maisy’s favorite person in the world.

She follows him absolutely everywhere he goes in the house.

Gina notes that the moment Maisy catches Daniel’s scent or hears his voice, her reaction is immediate: “That’s my dad.”

A large portion of their day consists of Maisy simply sprawled out on top of him.

“I didn’t know I could love a non-child this much,” Daniel confessed. “I plan my days around her.”

The Perfect Timing

Gina, who grew up with many pets, loves watching Daniel experience this deep animal bond for himself.

For Daniel, Maisy’s arrival couldn’t have come at a more crucial moment in his life.

“When I got her, I was going through a really, really rough time,” he shared.

While he admits he isn’t usually a “woo-woo” person, he firmly believes they were meant to find each other.
