California Dogs Dumped At A Crowded Shelter Cling To Each Other Until A Holiday Visit Changes Their Fate
Flower and Bambi were dumped at a crowded shelter in terrible shape. But their unbreakable bond caught the eye of a rescuer just in time.
A Heartbreaking Return

The animal shelter in Lancaster, California, is known as a massive dumping ground for unwanted pets. The facility sometimes takes in 30 to 40 dogs in a single day.
As the kennels become severely overcrowded, dogs face a heartbreaking reality. When space runs out, many animals are put down to make room for the new arrivals.
For two dogs named Flower and Bambi, the situation was especially dire. They had been adopted together, only to be dumped back at the shelter in terrible shape.
Fighting A Painful Battle

Given that both Flower and Bambi were sick upon their return, the odds of making it out alive were not in their favor.
Flower was suffering immensely. She had lost all the hair around her eyes, and her condition was visibly deteriorating.
Her whole belly, chest, and feet were completely swollen. Her skin looked like it was on fire, leaving her in constant, visible pain.
A Ticking Clock

At this particular shelter, dogs usually only get about 30 days to find a way out.
With their medical issues and the constant influx of new animals, Flower and Bambi were running out of time.
They needed a miracle, and they needed it quickly before their time was up.
A Thanksgiving Mission

That miracle came on Thanksgiving Day. A rescuer named Rebecca visited the shelter with her charity to feed the dogs.
As she walked through the loud, crowded facility, she turned a corner and came face-to-face with Bambi.
What she saw next completely melted her heart and stopped her in her tracks.
Finding Peace In The Chaos

Despite their painful condition and the stressful environment, the two dogs were totally happy.
Rebecca noted that they almost looked like cartoons. They were spooning, pretzeling, and hugging each other tightly.
They were in the midst of total and complete chaos, but they just exuded peace and joy because they had each other.
A Desperate Rescue

Seeing their incredible bond and fearing that they had very little time left, Rebecca knew she had to act.
She pulled them out of the shelter without any hesitation.
They were finally safe, but their journey to recovery was just beginning.
Healing With Community Love

The rescue team immediately started medical care, running bloodwork and conducting all the necessary testing.
During their stay at the animal hospital, the dogs were showered with love from the rescue’s supporters.
People came to visit them, bought them cozy sweaters, and took them on gentle walks to lift their spirits.
New Beginnings

Shortly after their recovery, both dogs received the happy news they had been waiting for.
Flower moved to a different daycare facility, where she quickly found her forever home. She is now thriving and living her best life.
Bambi was fostered by an amazing woman named Susan, which eventually led to her own beautiful adoption.
A Bond That Saved Them

Though they parted ways for their adoptions, it won’t be for long. The two families have already planned a playdate for the best friends.
Flower and Bambi chose to help and love one another, getting each other through the darkest moments of their lives.
As Rebecca reflected on their journey, she realized she had never had the honor of experiencing a bond quite like theirs until she met them.
