While traveling in India, a mother and daughter came across a heartbreaking sight. They discovered a small family of street dogs who were injured and in need of care.

Despite their rough condition, the dogs were incredibly sweet. They immediately gravitated toward the kind strangers who stopped to acknowledge them.

The dogs started following the women everywhere they went. They simply wouldn’t let their new friends out of their sight.

Seeing how friendly and loving the dogs were, the women knew they had to step in. They couldn’t just walk away from animals asking so clearly for help.

They took the dogs under their wing, starting with the basics. They cleaned the pups up and brought them to a local veterinarian for much-needed medical attention.

From that day on, they made sure the dogs never went hungry. They started feeding the grateful family every single day.

As time went on, the dynamic between the dogs and their caretakers shifted. The dogs were becoming deeply attached to the women who had saved them.

The feeling was entirely mutual. The rescuers realized that their time in India was limited, but their love for these dogs was not.

They knew they couldn’t just board a plane and leave the dogs behind to fend for themselves again. The pups wanted to be loved, and they desperately needed a safe future.

A Familiar Inspiration

The decision to help wasn’t entirely out of the blue. The year prior, the rescuer had actually adopted a dog through a rescue organization in India.

That dog, a sweet pup named Ginni, had changed her life. When she and her mother looked at this new family of street dogs, they saw Ginni’s resilient spirit in them.

Ginni became the silent inspiration for what came next. The rescuer admitted that without her current dog, she might not have had the strength to take on such a massive challenge.

A Monumental Commitment

With their hearts made up, the women decided to change the dogs’ lives forever. They committed to taking the dogs under their wing permanently.

The goal was ambitious: they were going to bring the entire family of dogs back to the United States. However, international dog rescue is never a simple process.

They learned that getting CDC permission to bring the dogs to the U.S. would take approximately seven long months.

Keeping Them Safe

With a seven-month wait ahead of them, the rescuers had to ensure the dogs were safe in India in the meantime. Returning them to the streets was not an option.

The rescuer got on the phone, calling between 40 and 50 different boarding facilities. She faced rejection after rejection in her desperate search.

Finally, she found a place that would accept the whole family for the time being. They gathered up all the dogs and safely transported them to the facility, calling it a true blessing.

After months of waiting and hoping, the best news finally arrived. They received the official CDC permission to fly the dogs to the United States.

The logistics were daunting, but the dogs were brave. They endured a grueling 40 hours of traveling to cross the globe.

When they finally arrived, the exhaustion melted away. It was an amazing, emotional feeling to finally have them on American soil.

First Tastes Of Comfort

The first order of business in their new temporary home was a warm bath. After their long trip, the dogs were understandably very dirty.

Once clean, their true personalities began to shine. They were incredibly curious, running all over the house and sniffing every new corner.

Best of all, they immediately hit it off with their canine host. The entire family of dogs got along great with Ginni, adjusting to indoor life very quickly.

Looking Toward Forever

For the rescuer, having the dogs safely in her home feels entirely surreal. After months of stress and planning, she can hardly believe they are finally there.

While she doesn’t have the space to keep the entire family of dogs permanently, she is thrilled to foster them. They are safe, loved, and warm while they decompress.

Now, the search begins for their forever homes. She is looking for special families who can give these incredible survivors the exact same love they’ve received so far.
