Pregnant Stray in Colorado Woke Her Foster Mom at Midnight, and the Long Night Was Just Beginning
When a heavily pregnant stray was pulled from Colorado’s freezing winter streets, she needed a safe place to land. What her foster mom didn’t expect was to become her teammate during a long, unforgettable night.
A Desperate Plea

When a desperate plea appeared online for a pregnant stray in Colorado in the middle of January, time was quickly running out.
The little dog had been found wandering Colorado’s freezing streets, heavily pregnant and severely malnourished.
She needed a safe, warm place to land, and she needed it immediately. Thankfully, a kind-hearted foster stepped up to give her the sanctuary she so desperately required.
A Cozy Safe Haven

The foster family quickly transformed a storage room into a makeshift nursery. They laid down a big, fluffy carpet to give the expectant mother, named Maggie, a soft place to rest.
After presenting Maggie with her new space, her foster mom tucked her in at midnight and headed upstairs to get some sleep.
The Midnight Alert

The quiet night didn’t last long. Before falling asleep, Maggie’s foster mom pulled out her phone to check the baby monitor.
On the screen, she saw that Maggie was already up. The little dog was digging and circling on the fluffy carpet.
Realizing that the babies were coming right that moment, the foster mom ran downstairs as quickly as she could.
Tagging In For Support

Maggie had come into rescue severely malnourished, meaning she wasn’t in the strongest place to deliver a litter of puppies on her own.
But instead of being fearful, the sweet dog looked to her rescuer for help. “I think she saw me as, ‘Okay, I’m going to tag you in to help me here,'” her foster mom recalled.
Together, they prepared for what would become the foster mom’s first all-nighter since her law school days.
The First Arrival

At exactly 2:50 in the morning, the hard work began. Mama Maggie successfully delivered her very first puppy.
Her foster mom stayed right by her side, offering gentle words of encouragement. “You’re doing great, Mags. You got one baby,” she whispered to the exhausted dog.
Working As A Team

The delivery process was a marathon. There was anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour between each puppy’s arrival.
Through every contraction and every new arrival, the two worked together in perfect harmony. It felt less like a dog giving birth and more like a dedicated team bringing new life into the world.
Counting The Babies

By the time the sun came up, the exhausted duo had made it through the incredible ordeal. Maggie had successfully delivered seven beautiful puppies.
The foster mom proudly took inventory of the little family, pointing out the firstborn, a second-born little girl, and a sixth baby affectionately named Cheesecake.
The final arrival, a little “hot pink girl,” rounded out the healthy litter of seven.
An Attentive Mother

Despite being incredibly exhausted and depleted from her time on the streets, Maggie was a phenomenal mother.
She looked after her babies with incredible attention and care, making sure each one was warm, fed, and safe in their fluffy den.
An Empty Nest

Weeks passed, and the puppies grew strong and healthy under Maggie’s watchful eye. Soon enough, it was time for the babies to leave the nest for their own forever homes.
The bustling puppy den was finally cleared out, leaving the house quiet once again. With her maternal duties officially over, it was time to figure out Maggie’s next chapter.
A Deserved Retirement

Initially, the foster family hoped to adopt Maggie themselves. However, they had recently adopted a high-energy, eight-month-old Boxer who was absolutely relentless in her playfulness.
Knowing what Maggie had been through, her foster mom made the selfless decision to let her go. She realized the sweet, tired mama deserved a home that was completely relaxed and low-key.
After surviving the freezing streets and raising seven puppies, Maggie finally earned the chance to just peacefully enjoy her days.
