It was a terrifying moment when a dog was suddenly hit by a passing school bus.

The bus driver immediately pulled over and called the police to report the tragic accident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they reached out to a local animal rescue for immediate assistance.

The rescue team rushed out to the location, eventually finding the badly injured dog lying in a ditch.

Nobody really knew anything about the dog or where he had come from.

There was a house not far from where he was located, but it appeared to be completely abandoned.

However, the injured dog was not alone in his moment of need.

A group of other dogs, including some Rottweilers and a Chihuahua, were standing guard and protecting him in the ditch while rescuers approached.

The rescue team tried desperately to find the dog’s owner, but they couldn’t find anyone to claim him.

Because of the severe extent of his injuries from the bus, the medical staff initially thought they were going to have to euthanize him.

Thankfully, they decided to give him a fighting chance.

Ultimately, his life was saved, but the trauma of the accident meant he had to lose one of his legs.

Stepping Into A New Life

Shortly after his accident and initial recovery, the three-legged dog was officially adopted.

His new family named him Yeti, and he proved to be incredibly resilient.

He settled right into his new house as if he had been living there his entire life.

Despite everything he had been through, Yeti had absolutely no fear of anything.

Yeti has a very unique and adorable physical appearance due to a condition called vitiligo.

The condition causes his body to stop producing melanin, resulting in striking white pigmentation across his fur.

His family notes that he looks just like a baby deer, and he has gotten progressively whiter since they adopted him.

They know his face or body might eventually turn completely white, but they only care that he remains happy and healthy.

Discovering The Magic Of The Beach

As Yeti explored the world with his new family, they randomly discovered his absolute favorite place.

During a trip to the coast, they realized that Yeti loves the beach more than anything.

Now, his family makes sure to take him to the shore multiple times.

They even book weekend vacations at a beach cabin just to let Yeti have a full, joyful weekend in the sand.

A Magnet For Special Connections

Yeti just wants to be loved, and his constantly wagging tail invites strangers to approach him.

His gentle nature sends all the right signals that he is a friendly, approachable dog.

Interestingly, his family noticed that wheelchair-bound individuals and autistic children tend to naturally gravitate toward him.

He has shared wonderful, heartwarming interactions with children facing their own hardships.

While Yeti is incredibly happy, he does have one lingering trigger from his past trauma.

Because he loves car rides, he often has his head out the window, but he will still try to chase and bite large trucks across the street.

To ensure his body stays strong, his family takes him to a wonderful physical therapist every week.

He wears specific braces on his wrist to prevent hyperextension, and he is currently training to use a brand-new prosthetic leg to help him function like any other dog.
