Jaqueenie’s journey to a pampered indoor life started with a single, life-changing glance.
His future mom remembers the exact moment she first laid eyes on him at the rescue facility.

One day, he got a tiny nick on his paw and became so inconsolably upset that his panicked family rushed him straight to the emergency room.
The vet examined his paw and couldn’t even find a wound at first. After a second look, she diagnosed the terrifying injury as a mere paper cut.
Mosquito Bites and Special Bandages
To make him feel better about his paper cut, the vet gave him a special bandage and some pain medication.
But Jaqueenie’s medical dramas were only just beginning.
During a walk on the greenway, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, shaking and staring at his paw in absolute panic.
His mom rushed him to the ER once again, only to learn that this time, he had suffered a mosquito bite. He proudly went home with a cone and more pain meds.

His family lovingly calls it the “Jaqueenie First” policy, where absolutely everything must revolve around his wants and needs.
If friends come over and pour water for their own dogs, Jaqueenie immediately marches over and insists on drinking it first.
He also firmly believes he is entitled to more treats than anyone else in the room, and he uses his mom as a personal lounger for belly rubs.

Every morning, he grabs one of his favorite toys and runs excitedly around the house to show his mom.
He proudly parades around with the toy, making sure everyone knows just how strong and brave he feels.
A Strict Teacher for Foster Pups
Jaqueenie isn’t the only dog in the house; his family frequently takes in young foster puppies who need a second chance.
While he can be a bit of a tyrant at home, his strict rules actually serve a wonderful purpose for the newcomers.

Above all else, Jaqueenie simply cannot stand being left out of any activity, even if it’s a trip to the doctor.
A year and a half ago, the foster puppies were all lined up to get their routine vaccinations.
Seeing the puppies get attention, Jaqueenie became incredibly jealous. The vet tech actually had to give him a “pretend vaccine” just to appease his ego.
He may be a demanding, dramatic little dog who hates the outdoors, but his family wouldn’t trade their hilarious former stray for anything in the world.
