He might only weigh two pounds, but Franklin has a huge personality and a surprisingly important job in Pennsylvania.
A Tiny Dog With A Massive Voice
When Stacy Chermol looks at her tiny dog, Franklin, she sees a pint-sized pup with an absolutely massive personality.
Weighing in at just 2.2 pounds, Franklin has a way of making his presence known to everyone around him.
Despite his small stature, his vocal cords tell a completely different story. According to Stacy, Franklin is unbelievably loud and sounds more like a German shepherd than a tiny Chihuahua.
The funniest part is that he doesn’t actually know how to bark. Instead, he lets out a hilarious howl that echoes through the house.
Two Very Different Modes
Living with Franklin means experiencing his two extreme personalities.
In his calm mode, he prefers to sleep in a completely upright position. He often drifts off with his little tongue sticking out, looking perfectly at peace.
But when he flips the switch, he becomes an entirely different dog.
Stacy affectionately calls him an “absolute lunatic” and a “little gremlin menace” when he starts racing around the house at top speed.
An Unbreakable Bond
Franklin’s energetic zoomies usually have one specific trigger: he always wants to be near Stacy.
He is incredibly attached to her, following her around the house like a little duck following its mother.
In fact, Stacy and her family fully believe that Franklin thinks she is his biological mother.
“I’ve never seen a dog this attached to a person,” Stacy shared. “And I mean, selfishly, I have to say, I mean, I love it.”
The Five-Second Countdown
Because of this intense bond, Franklin simply cannot stand being separated from his favorite person.
If Stacy walks out of the room just to get the mail, the rest of the family knows exactly what is about to happen.
They can literally count down from five, and right on cue, Franklin will start screaming for her.
The vocal display usually starts with a little gurgle before escalating into a full-blown, dramatic howl.
Going To Work Every Day
Franklin’s attachment means he doesn’t stay home alone when the family goes to work.
Stacy’s husband is a dentist, and Franklin has become a staple at his dental practice.
The tiny dog comes to the office every single day, ready to take on his self-appointed duties.
He is such a vocal presence that patients can sometimes hear him from all the way down the hall, or even from outside.
The Ultimate Emotional Support
While a noisy Chihuahua might seem out of place in a medical setting, Franklin actually serves a very important purpose.
He has naturally stepped into the role of the office’s resident emotional support dog.
Dental procedures can be stressful, but Franklin is always ready to lend a tiny, comforting paw.
Patients absolutely love to have the two-pound dog placed on their chest while they are getting root canals and other treatments.
Winning Over Strangers
Franklin’s charm isn’t just limited to the dental chair; he loves meeting new people wherever he goes.
He is completely fearless and will walk right up to anyone, regardless of their size.
Stacy notes that he will happily approach six-foot-five men who are the size of giants compared to him.
Even though Franklin is roughly the size of their shoe, these large men are instantly won over by his friendly demeanor.
Defying The Stereotypes
Stacy’s husband and children adore Franklin, even if they admit to being just a little bit jealous of his intense bond with Stacy.
He truly loves everybody he meets, completely defying the stereotype that Chihuahuas are unfriendly or easily annoyed.
While Stacy acknowledges that some small dogs can be difficult, Franklin is the exact opposite.
“He’s genuinely the purest form of love that I’ve ever seen in my life,” she said, grateful for every loud, hilarious moment with her tiny best friend.
