Georgia Rescuer Can’t Tell If Tiny Animal Is A Bear Cub Or Coyote, And Even The Vet Is Baffled
Born under a Georgia shed and looking unlike any normal dog, a tiny puppy named Chupey needed a miracle. What started as a temporary foster situation turned into a beautiful seven-year journey.
A Mysterious Discovery
When an experienced animal rescuer first laid eyes on a tiny creature living outside, she couldn’t quite figure out what she was looking at. With folded ears, squinty eyes, and a permanent, toothy smile, the little animal looked entirely unique.
“I didn’t know if it was a bear cub, I didn’t know if it was a coyote mixed with puppy,” she recalled. “He looked different than anything I’ve ever seen.”
She had been involved in animal rescue since the early 2010s, but this little one was a complete mystery. Despite his unusual appearance, she felt an immediate pull to help him.
Danger Under The Shed
The puppy, who would later be named Chupey, was living in a precarious situation. A couple had discovered him after he was born outside beneath a shed.
Living outdoors left the tiny, fragile dog incredibly vulnerable. The rescuer knew that wild animals like raccoons and coyotes could easily get under the structure and harm him.
“He wasn’t the puppy I expected to meet, and I didn’t know if I could help him,” she admitted. “But I knew I had to try.”
A Baffled Veterinarian

But as Chupey began to feel secure, his true personality started to shine through. The once-quiet puppy suddenly found his voice and became incredibly vocal.
He started darting around the house, acting like a wild, joyful animal. His foster mom was completely surprised by just how much the little dog loved to run and play.
Conversations And Cuddles
As Chupey’s confidence grew, so did his bond with his rescuer. She found herself spending hours just talking to him, delighted by the way he would happily “talk” back to her.
He also became incredibly affectionate, never hesitating to force himself into her personal space whenever he was ready for a cuddle.
Her husband watched the undeniable connection forming between them. Seeing them cuddle one day, he confidently told her, “You’re going to keep that dog.”
A Christmas Realization
At first, the rescuer brushed off her husband’s prediction. She insisted that Chupey was just a foster and would eventually move on to another family.
But as the holidays approached, her feelings became impossible to ignore. The house simply wouldn’t feel the same without Chupey’s unique smile and playful chatter.
Around Christmas time, she finally admitted the truth to herself. Chupey was already exactly where he belonged, and he was officially going to stay.
Seven Years Of Smiles
Fast forward seven years, and Chupey is still bringing endless joy to his family. When strangers see him, they are often taken aback, immediately asking, “What is that?”
His mom patiently explains that he was simply born this way. While they still don’t have an official name for his condition, they never stop trying to learn more about his unique genetics.
