Seven Vets Examine A California Rescue Dog’s Broken Leg, And Every Single One Gives The Same Answer

A stray dog named Emmy was found by a California rescuer wandering the streets of Mexico in terrible condition, suffering from a broken leg and severe matting. After a shocking grooming transformation and a life-changing surgery, she finally got the second chance she deserved.

A Heartbreaking Discovery

It was just an ordinary drive when a rescuer suddenly spotted a heartbreaking sight in the middle of the street.

A small, severely matted dog was wandering all alone, clearly in a lot of pain. When the rescuer got out of the truck to take a closer look, the reality of the situation became clear.

The poor pup, later named Emmy, was suffering from a completely broken leg. Her fur was so overgrown and tangled that it was hard to even see her face.

Earning Her Trust

Approaching a scared, injured stray is never easy, and Emmy was understandably terrified.

The rescuers tried to get close to her, but she would quickly back away in fear. They knew they had to be incredibly gentle to earn her trust.

Speaking softly and moving slowly, they did everything they could to show the sweet girl that they were there to help.

Safe At Last

With a little patience and a lot of kindness, Emmy finally allowed her rescuers to scoop her up.

They gently loaded her into the truck, assuring her that she was finally safe. As she settled in, they could tell just how sweet and gentle she truly was beneath all the pain and fear.

She was officially their newest addition, and they wasted no time getting her the help she desperately needed.

A Medical Challenge

The first stop for Emmy was the veterinary clinic to address her broken leg.

However, the rescuers quickly ran into a major obstacle. Operating down in Mexico, they found it incredibly difficult to locate a vet with the right equipment to fix such a severe break.

While they searched for the right medical solution, they realized there was something else they could do to make Emmy feel better immediately.

A Much-Needed Makeover

Emmy’s matted fur was pulling on her skin and causing her unnecessary discomfort.

To give her a fresh start and some immediate relief, the rescuers took her directly to a groomer. They knew that a haircut would make a world of difference for the little dog.

Waiting outside, the rescuer admitted they didn’t know what to expect, but they knew she was going to look like a completely different dog.

The Stunning Reveal

When Emmy finally emerged from the grooming room, her rescuers were absolutely speechless.

The heavy, dirty mats were gone, revealing a beautiful, bright-eyed dog underneath. The transformation was nothing short of amazing.

Getting rid of that painful coat was the perfect fresh start to Emmy’s new life.

Seeking The Best Care

With Emmy feeling much cleaner and lighter, the focus returned to her broken leg.

The rescuers were determined to do what was best for her, so they didn’t just stop at one vet. They visited several clinics, ultimately getting seven different professional opinions.

Despite the thorough search, every single veterinarian came to the exact same conclusion.

A Difficult Decision

All seven vets agreed that the best and safest option for Emmy was to amputate the injured leg.

While it is always hard to make the call for an amputation, the rescuers knew it would finally free her from the pain she had been carrying around.

Emmy went into surgery, and when she woke up, the change in her demeanor was instantaneous. They could tell right away that it was the right decision.

Thriving On Three Legs

Dogs are incredibly resilient, and Emmy proved that almost immediately.

Just an hour after her surgery, she was already up and taking her first steps. Her personality blossomed, and her rescuers were blown away by how happy she was.

Now an adventurous three-legged pup, she loves nuzzling up to her caretakers and exploring the world on her own terms.

The Perfect Happily Ever After

After surviving the streets, enduring a painful injury, and recovering from surgery, Emmy’s journey was about to get even better.

The sweet, resilient dog found her forever home with a loving family that has two children. Her rescuers know that she is destined to be their new best friend.

From a scared, matted stray to a joyful family member, Emmy finally has the beautiful life she always deserved.
