California Dog Waited Months For A Home, Then Two Hollywood Stars Showed Up To Change His Luck
When a rescue dog named Gerald showed up for a special ‘Dream Date’ interview, he completely stole the show from his celebrity guests.
A Very Special Guest

For a rescue dog hoping to be noticed, every introduction is a chance at a new life.
Gerald, an adorable pup available through California-based Wags and Walks, had been looking for his perfect match for quite some time.
He had been waiting patiently since January, hoping the right family would finally come along to scoop him up.
Little did he know, his search for a forever home was about to get a major boost from some very famous friends.
The Ultimate Dream Date

During a special interview with The Dodo, actors Sally and Lewis were asked if they were ready to meet their ‘Dream Date.’
The moment Gerald walked in, the stars were instantly smitten.
“Oh my God, he might have found his home right here,” Sally declared immediately. “How could you not have a home?”
The sweet dog took in all the new sights and sounds, happy just to be the center of attention.
Stealing the Spotlight

The interview featured a fun game with glass jars, each containing a question and a little surprise for the pup.
Lewis tried his best to answer questions about his new Netflix project, “Remarkably Bright Creatures.”
However, keeping his focus on the movie proved to be nearly impossible with Gerald sitting right there.
“I’m only concerned about Gerald,” Lewis joked, completely distracted by the dog’s undeniable charm.
The Way to a Dog’s Heart

As the game continued, Gerald made his preferences very clear.
While there were plenty of toys offered to him, the clever dog had his eyes on a different prize.
“He says, ‘I could care less about this toy. I want something to eat,'” Sally laughed.
She quickly opened another jar to find a treat, earning a sweet little sideways lick of appreciation from the happy pup.
A Temporary Best Friend

As the interview went on, Sally made sure she was the one holding the adorable guest of honor.
Lewis playfully noted that the ratio of dog-holding wasn’t very even between them.
Sally didn’t mind at all, admitting that her favorite part of the entire date was simply holding Gerald.
She even joked that anyone who saw the sweet dog and didn’t want to adopt him immediately needed to have their head checked.
Building a Brighter Future

Before the date came to an end, the actors wanted to make sure Gerald left with more than just good memories.
During their free time doing press that day, they had thoughtfully collected a special gift basket just for him.
Filled with toys and goodies, the basket was designed to go home with Gerald whenever he finally found his family.
“It’s a dual package,” they explained. “It’s Gerald Butler and his basket of goods.”
A Promise to Keep in Touch

Even though they couldn’t take him home themselves, the stars were deeply invested in Gerald’s future.
Sally made a strict demand to the rescue team before they parted ways.
“I need to know where you end up, Gerald. You promised,” she told the dog. “Because I’m going to be ding-dong, ‘Hi, I’m a friend of Gerald’s.'”
With a custom gift basket and the backing of two new celebrity best friends, Gerald’s long wait for a home was surely coming to a beautiful end.
