Passing The Test
During the final six weeks of the program, the inmates had to teach their dogs to pass the Canine Good Citizen certification.
The dogs needed to sit, stay, come when called, and remain non-reactive around other dogs.
They also had to allow strangers to pet them, which was a massive hurdle for Prada given her deep-seated trust issues.
But with his patient guidance, she conquered her fears and successfully passed the test.
The Hardest Goodbye
After the dogs passed their tests, the day came to see them off to their new lives.
It was a heartbreaking day for everyone, and he truly believed he would never see Prada again.
He continued with the program, taking in another rescue dog named Turbo.
Even though he didn’t know if he would ever go home, he managed to convince his family on the outside to adopt both Prada and Turbo.
A Second Chance At Life
He completed four rounds in the Pawsitive Change Program, emerging as a completely different and better person.
The experience made him deeply question his past behavior and his entire belief system.
Then, a change in the law afforded him a rare opportunity to appear before the parole board.
Thanks to his profound transformation, he was found “suitable” for release at his very first hearing.

He was reunited with Prada and Turbo, the two dogs his family had adopted and cared for in his absence.
