It is always heartbreaking wondering where a stray dog came from.

When a dog named Shrimp was first found wandering on her own, she was severely underweight for her size.

Despite her rough condition, she was incredibly affectionate right from the start.

Her sweet demeanor told rescuers that she had to have come from a loving home at some point in her life.

Three years ago, a woman named Jen and her husband decided to change Shrimp’s life forever.

They adopted the sweet dog from a rescue organization called Wags & Walks in Los Angeles.

Jen noted that it was really hard to imagine a situation where such a loving dog was out there all alone.

When they brought her inside, Shrimp seemed to adapt to their home, their layout, and their life almost immediately.

Shrimp is the absolute definition of a gentle giant.

She is a petite 93 pounds, sporting a massive head and an exaggerated, protruding lip that you simply can’t keep your eyes off of.

Her family affectionately calls her “Moose” from time to time because of her impressive size.

When brave guests come over, Shrimp patiently waits for them to sit down so she can climb onto their laps, kiss their faces, and get right up in their space.

A Best Friend Named Fat Lou

Shrimp’s new home turned out to be a bit of a mini zoo, filled with unique siblings.

One of those siblings is a five-year-old rescue guinea pig named Fat Lou.

Fat Lou quickly became Shrimp’s best friend in the entire house.

Jen finds it incredibly precious that Shrimp seems to view Fat Lou as an equal, thinking they are the exact same size and just a couple of gals hanging out.

Wilbur, The Reluctant Boyfriend

The household also includes an 11-year-old dog named Wilbur.

Wilbur is the demanding one when guests walk in, making sure he gets his fair share of attention and recognition.

Jen’s favorite thing to say is that Wilbur is “Shrimp’s man,” even if he never actually asked for the title.

If you ask Shrimp if Wilbur is her man, she will happily kiss his ears and shower him with love.

The Brains Behind The Operation

The most recent addition to this eclectic family is a bearded dragon officially named Fred Savage.

Fred is the quiet gentleman of the family, but Jen jokes that he is somehow the brains behind the entire operation.

He completely loves and trusts Shrimp, often hopping right onto her back.

Because Shrimp is particularly warm, Fred loves using her as a comfortable resting surface, and Shrimp seems to enjoy the gentle exfoliation.

An Unusual Salad Time

One of the most unique daily routines in Jen’s household is their shared salad time.

Typically once or twice a day, all of the animals gather around to share a healthy snack of fresh veggies.

Jen admits that it has become so normal to her that she forgets how strange it looks to outsiders.

Guests are always amazed to see two big dogs excitedly eating lettuce right alongside a guinea pig and a bearded dragon.

A Beautifully Blended Family

Shrimp is a happy-go-lucky, innocent, and bubbly girl who loves to mimic everything Jen does, even wanting makeup applied to her face.

Despite her strong bond with Jen, Shrimp is undeniably a daddy’s girl who loves staring deeply into Jen’s husband’s eyes.

Jen was initially nervous about bringing such a large dog into a home with small animals, but it turned out perfectly.

Every day, Jen is amazed that these incredibly unique animals with vastly different personalities genuinely love each other and have built a beautiful life together.
