Texas Dog Treats Tiny Guinea Pigs Like Her Own Puppies And Takes Her New Motherly Duties Very Seriously
A gentle dog named Meisha has taken on the role of a lifetime: becoming a protective, loving mother to a cage full of tiny guinea pigs.
A Very Special Morning Routine

For a sweet Texas dog named Meisha, every single day begins with a very important mission.
The moment she wakes up in the morning, she doesn’t ask to go outside or beg for her breakfast.
Instead, she immediately hops out of bed to check on the smallest members of her family.
She heads straight to the guinea pig enclosure to make sure her tiny friends are safe and sound.
Treating Them Like Her Own Puppies

To Meisha, the little rodents aren’t just pets that share her house.
“She treats the guinea pigs like her puppies,” her owner explained.
She spends her days gently cleaning them and watching them intently while they play.
Sometimes, she even tries to climb into their enclosure, completely unaware that she is far too big to fit inside.
A Sign Of Ultimate Comfort

The affection is entirely mutual.
Despite the massive size difference, the guinea pigs are completely at ease in Meisha’s presence.
In fact, her family notes that the tiny animals are the calmest with Meisha out of anyone in the house.
They happily eat their meals while she is around, which is a major sign of trust and comfort for a guinea pig.
Never Leaving Their Side

When the humans leave the house, Meisha takes her babysitting duties to the next level.
She pretty much refuses to leave their side when the family isn’t home.
She knows exactly where they are at all times, tracking their movements inside their multi-level cage.
If the guinea pigs climb up a level, Meisha stands up to keep them in view. If they go down, she lays down so she can see them completely.
The Great Cage Relocation

Meisha’s dedication was truly put to the test one afternoon.
Her owner had to temporarily move the cage into another room in order to clean the area.
When Meisha was let back into the room and saw the empty space, panic set in.
She went into “full mother meltdown mode,” entirely convinced that her precious babies were missing.
A Joyful Reunion

Her owner had to gently guide the frantic dog through the house to help her locate the relocated cage.
“Do you think they’re in one of these rooms?” her owner asked as Meisha searched.
The moment Meisha spotted them, her relief was palpable.
Now, if the guinea pigs are ever moved to a different room, Meisha simply takes herself into that room to resume her watch.
The Ultimate Protector

Meisha’s maternal instincts also mean she is fiercely protective of her little flock.
She is especially wary of the family cat, who sometimes wanders a bit too close to the enclosure.
Whenever the feline approaches, Meisha is right there, standing guard and watching the cat’s every move.
She makes sure everyone knows that these tiny babies belong to her, and she will always be there to keep them safe.
