The call for help came through a direct message.

A Florida follower reached out with upsetting news: they had found a tiny puppy abandoned in a dumpster.

When the rescuer arrived, the situation was worse than she had anticipated. “Oh, I didn’t know it was going to be this bad,” she said, taking in the sight of the little dog

Swollen and Silent

The puppy was incredibly small, and her face was severely swollen.

She even had injuries from her teeth due to the swelling. “What did they do to you? Your poor little face!” her rescuer asked gently.

For the entire first 24 hours, the puppy was completely shut down. There was absolutely zero emotional response from her.

Testing Her Strength

Hoping to assess her mobility, the rescuer placed the puppy in a small box to see if she could walk.

“Can you try to stand up?” she encouraged the little dog. To her relief, the puppy managed to stand.

However, as she took a few steps, it became clear she was limping. “Oh no, you’re hurt!” the rescuer realized, knowing immediately that the puppy’s leg was broken.

The Cutest Little Cast

A trip to the vet confirmed the broken leg, and the puppy was fitted with a cast.

While the rescuer hated that the little dog had to wear it, she admitted it was “the cutest little thing.”

Now named June, the puppy was finally on the road to physical recovery, though her emotional healing would take more time.

The breakthrough came on the second morning.

June gave her rescuer kisses and wagged her tail just a little bit.

“That definitely made me feel like she was starting to gain a little trust with me,” her rescuer shared. It was a small gesture, but a massive step forward.

June didn’t know anything about being a dog or a puppy.

Her rescuer knew she had to take things slow. By day three or four, June finally felt brave enough to approach and climb into her lap.

The other dogs in the home also played a crucial role, helping June feel more comfortable and teaching her normal dog behaviors.

As June grew more comfortable, her personality began to shine.

One day, while playing on the bed, she surprised everyone by barking.

“That was very sweet,” her rescuer recalled. Before long, her cast was removed, and she was feeling much better.

To celebrate her recovery, the family took all the dogs on a beach trip.

June bravely jumped into the water, swimming alongside her new friends.

“That was definitely unforgettable,” her rescuer said, watching the once-broken puppy enjoy life to the fullest.

June has developed some adorable quirks, like plopping her full body weight onto the other dogs—a habit she started as a baby and never outgrew.

Her rescuer knows that June’s comfort comes from the trust they built together. While June loves everyone, she especially loves her “mama.”

That deep connection made the decision easy. “It’s the reason that I chose to adopt her,” her rescuer shared. “That’s my baby.”
