Integrating a new pet into a multi-animal household in California can often be a delicate process filled with careful introductions. For one family, adding a feline to a pack of dogs seemed like it might take some time to balance.

But a confident cat named Lincoln had entirely different plans.

From the very first minute he arrived, Lincoln made it clear that he was going to be the one running the show.

He didn’t tiptoe around his canine siblings or hide away in a quiet room. Instead, he owned the pack immediately, happily eating right from their bowls and claiming the best spots on their beds.

Establishing The Rhythm

In many mixed-species homes, the felines are the ones who ultimately set the boundaries.

Lincoln’s owner noted that cats usually teach the dogs exactly where the pecking order is, and Lincoln was no exception.

Without a doubt, he established his boundaries, and the entire pack got into a comfortable rhythm surprisingly quickly.

The dogs learned to respect their new feline brother, and a peaceful harmony settled over the household.

A Special Puppy Named Lucy

Among the pack of dogs is a very special puppy named Lucy.

Lucy is both blind and deaf, navigating her world through touch and smell.

Because she is a puppy, she still has plenty of energy and tends to play a bit rough.

While some animals might be hesitant around a boisterous, special-needs puppy, Lincoln saw a perfect playmate.

Mischievous Games

Lincoln quickly figured out how to interact with Lucy, cleverly using her lack of sight and hearing to his advantage during playtime.

He loves to instigate games of hide-and-seek, playfully baiting the puppy before darting out of reach.

He will often hide in his crinkly cat tunnels or tuck himself away inside cardboard boxes.

Waiting for the perfect moment, Lincoln is always jumping out to surprise her, keeping the energetic puppy on her toes.

Becoming Best Friends

Despite their differences in species and abilities, the two have formed a remarkably close bond.

They definitely became besties very quickly, finding a unique way to communicate and have fun together.

The rest of the pack embraces the fun, too. If Lincoln starts to play with them, the dogs are never shy about playfully engaging right back.

It’s a beautiful dynamic where everyone feels included and understood.

Adventures As A Pack

The fun isn’t just contained to the living room.

The entire furry family loves to be outside, and they all enjoy going for long walks together.

One of their absolute favorite activities as a full pack is taking a scenic walk down to the local beach.

Lincoln doesn’t want to be left behind; he loves to explore the sandy beach right alongside his canine siblings.

Making Each Other Better
