Two Missouri Pit Bulls Couldn’t Be More Different Around Foster Puppies, And That’s What Makes It Work
When a Missouri foster mom brought home two rescue dogs of her own, she never expected them to take over her volunteer duties. Now, this unstoppable duo helps raise every tiny puppy that comes through her doors.
The Nurturer And The Drill Sergeant

Peach and Hunk have completely different parenting styles, but they balance each other perfectly. Their mom describes them as “yin and yang” when it comes to handling the tiny guests.
Peach is the ultimate nurturer. Whenever new puppies arrive, they love to greet her by covering her face with sweet, excited kisses.
Hunk, on the other hand, takes his job very seriously. He acts as the drill sergeant of the house, making sure all the little ones follow the rules.
But once the puppies get a little older and find their footing, Hunk drops his strict persona. He happily heads out to the yard to romp and play with his tiny trainees.
A Foster Fail Named Hunk

The dedicated foster mom never actually planned for her dogs to be so involved in her rescue work. In fact, she never even planned to keep Hunk in the first place.
She had been fostering dogs for nearly two years when Hunk arrived from Positive Tales Dog Rescue. It didn’t take long for her to realize that he wasn’t going anywhere.
Even though she had officially adopted a dog of her own, she refused to stop fostering. She just had to hope her new boy would be welcoming to a revolving door of visitors.
To her surprise, Hunk was absolutely thrilled. He seemed to think his mom was just bringing home a constant stream of new friends just for him.
A Timid Mom With Eight Babies

Eventually, the foster mom saw a photo of a dog named Peach. The dog’s eyes spoke to her immediately, and she knew she had to intervene.
Working quickly with Positive Tales Dog Rescue, they managed to pull Peach and her eight newborn puppies to safety.
Like many rescued mother dogs, Peach was incredibly timid when she first arrived. The stress of keeping her babies safe in an uncertain world had taken a toll.
She didn’t show her true personality for quite a while. Her foster mom knew she needed time and space to decompress.
Coming Out Of Her Shell

Usually, a new mom dog is kept completely separated from other pets to help her relax. But Peach had other plans.
She made it very clear that she wanted to interact with Hunk. The foster mom cautiously allowed them to meet, and the connection was instant.
Hunk was the key to bringing the nervous mother dog out of her shell. Before long, the two of them were doing zoomies and chasing each other around the yard.
Watching them play so freely, their mom realized they had quickly become best friends.
Learning How To Smile

Hunk’s confident, joyful energy began rubbing off on Peach in the most adorable ways. He was teaching her how to truly be a carefree dog again.
He even seemed to teach her how to smile. Peach began showing off a wide, happy grin that melted her foster mom’s heart.
With her own puppies growing up and preparing for adoption, Peach was finally learning to enjoy her own life.
But her deep nurturing instincts were about to be put to the ultimate test.
A Surprising Reaction

Right after Peach’s litter was moved on, the foster mom took in another group of puppies in need.
She was incredibly nervous about how Peach would react. Usually, mother dogs are completely exhausted and totally “over” puppies after raising their own.
When she finally let Peach down to meet the new babies, the dog’s reaction was nothing short of miraculous.
It was the most exciting thing the foster mom had ever seen. Peach was absolutely thrilled to have more babies to love and care for.
Breaking The City Limits

Originally, the plan was always to get Peach adopted once her puppies were weaned. The foster mom was already at her city’s legal limit for the amount of dogs she could own.
But seeing Peach’s incredible bond with Hunk and her endless love for the foster puppies changed everything.
She couldn’t bear the thought of separating the duo. She decided that she would deal with the city if she had to, but Peach was staying forever.
Peach officially became the second “foster fail” of the house, securing her place in the family.
Proving The Stereotypes Wrong

Both Peach and Hunk are pit bulls, a breed that often faces unfair judgment and harsh stereotypes.
Their mom frequently gets comments from people saying she shouldn’t let her dogs around fragile little puppies.
But Peach and Hunk prove those stereotypes wrong in a multitude of ways every single day. They are the gentlest, most patient foster parents a helpless puppy could ask for.
Seeing how far they have come, and how much love they have to give to every rescued baby, is nothing short of amazing.
