Colorado Rescuer Brought Her New Partner On A Jungle Mission Neither Of Them Would Soon Forget
Found emaciated and suffering from mange in the middle of nowhere, a shy dog learns to trust his rescuers from Colorado and discovers the joy of being a beloved pet.
A Late-Night Plea For Help
It was late at night when the message came through.
A local rescuer received a direct message about a dog in desperate need of help.
When they finally laid eyes on him, the sight was heartbreaking.
He approached them incredibly slowly, looking up with big, wide eyes that showed just how frightened he was.
Stranded In The Middle Of Nowhere
The poor pup was in terrible physical condition.
He was so emaciated that every single one of his ribs and his spine were clearly visible.
On top of his starvation, he was missing a significant amount of fur due to a painful case of mange.
He had been surviving on a cliff in the middle of the jungle, completely isolated from the world.
A Test For A New Relationship
The rescuer didn’t go on this mission alone.
She brought along her partner, whom she had just recently started dating.
He was completely new to the animal rescue world, making this intense jungle rescue a true trial by fire.
Despite his lack of experience, he was ready to help bring the terrified dog to safety.
Hunger Overcomes Fear
Catching a scared, stray dog in the wild is never an easy task.
The pup was super wary of the large transport crate they had placed on the ground.
However, his extreme skinniness and hunger ended up working in the rescuers’ favor.
The moment they tossed a can of dog food into the back of the crate, his survival instincts took over.
The First Steps To Healing
With the dog safely secured, he walked right into the next chapter of his life.
The rescuers loaded him up and took him away from the lonely cliff forever.
At the veterinary clinic, he received his necessary shots and vaccines.
Everything about this process was completely new and overwhelming to him, but he handled it bravely.
Falling In Love With Indoor Life
Once he was medically cleared, it was time to introduce him to a real home.
For a dog who had lived in the harsh jungle, a soft bed and a roof were foreign concepts.
But it didn’t take long for him to realize how wonderful safety could be.
He immediately fell in love with the comforts of the pet-dog life.
A Very Specific Kind Of Dog
As his personality began to emerge, his rescuers noticed some unique quirks.
Because of his past trauma and deep shyness, he was still very timid in certain situations.
They quickly realized he was one of those dogs who wouldn’t be well-suited for just any home.
He needed a specific environment with people who truly understood his boundaries.
The Perfect Home Was Already There
Knowing how fragile his trust was, the couple had a big decision to make.
They knew pretty quickly that their home was probably the best and safest place for him to be.
Instead of putting him through the stress of another transition, they decided to keep him forever.
Surrounded by the people who saved him, the once super-shy dog finally blossomed into an absolute goofball.
