Nobody At An Ohio Diner Wanted The One-Eyed Puppy, Until A Couple Overheard His Story
When a one-eyed puppy was found dumped in a ditch, nobody at a local Ohio diner wanted to take him in—until one couple stepped up and introduced him to a very unusual new family.
A Chance Encounter At Breakfast

It was just a normal morning for one couple out enjoying breakfast, but a conversation with a stranger was about to change their lives.
They overheard a man talking about a tiny puppy his sister had found. The poor dog had been discovered abandoned in a ditch on her farm.
The puppy was not doing well, and the man was desperately asking all the servers in the restaurant, “Hey, you want a dog?”
When no one else stepped up to take the little dog, the couple knew they had to intervene. They told the man that if he couldn’t find anyone else, they would gladly take him in.
Evaluating The Little Survivor

They officially welcomed the newest member of what they call the “Bissel squad” and named him Pablo.
Right away, they could see the puppy had been through a lot. He was very thin and had a noticeably inflamed stomach.
Most strikingly, little Pablo only had one working eye.
They immediately took him to the vet, worried about how his missing eye and rough start to life would affect his future.
Worries Melt Away

Despite their initial fears, the vet visit brought reassuring news. With time and proper care, Pablo was going to be just fine.
He had already adapted to having only one working eye, proving how resilient he truly was.
When they finally brought him home to settle in, any lingering anxieties the couple had instantly vanished.
He was incredibly calm for a puppy who had just been through such a traumatic ordeal.
Meeting The Rest Of The Pack

The real test came when it was time for Pablo to meet the rest of the household’s animals.
They took their first walk together in the backyard, introducing the tiny puppy to the resident dogs and pets.
To their delight, everyone fit together seamlessly.
However, the older heeler dogs weren’t quite ready to play with the energetic new puppy right away.
An Unlikely Friendship

Since the heelers were giving him the cold shoulder, Pablo looked elsewhere for a playmate.
He found the perfect companion in the family’s pet bunny rabbit, Stewie.
The couple was shocked to see that Stewie wasn’t scared of the puppy at all.
In fact, Stewie seemed to think he was a dog himself, and the two quickly became inseparable.
A Puppy Who Hops

Spending so much time with a rabbit had a hilarious effect on little Pablo.
His owners soon noticed that Pablo was starting to act like a rabbit, even hopping around the yard alongside his best friend.
He transformed into a big ball of energy, fully embracing his new, safe environment.
His adventurous spirit began to shine through every single day.
Winning Over The Whole House

Eventually, Pablo’s relentless charm and energy wore down the stubborn heelers.
He absolutely adored his new dog siblings, and they finally accepted him into their pack.
Even the family cat decided the new puppy was acceptable, and soon everybody was cool with each other.
Pablo had completely integrated into his new, loving family.
A Bigger Mission

Pablo has changed in so many wonderful ways since his adoption, proving that no matter what he went through, he just kept going.
Sadly, his story is all too common. He was found in Meigs County, an area that currently does not have a county animal shelter, making it a frequent dumping ground for unwanted dogs.
His family now wants to use his story to raise awareness for the Animal Rescue and Facility of Meigs County, a private group trying to get traction to help local animals.
With a life full of love and a bunny for a best friend, Pablo’s future is bright—and his family hopes that one day, he might even have a local shelter named after him.
