Texas Dogs Missed Their Georgia Grandma So Much That Their Mom Made A Massive Life Change
When two dogs couldn’t bear being away from their favorite person, their mom made a major cross-country move to Georgia to keep their family close.
A Heartbreaking Distance
For many dogs, a trip to see their extended human family is a fun, occasional treat. But for two deeply loved pups named Zoe and Snoop, visiting their grandmother wasn’t just a fun weekend—it was their favorite thing in the world.
The dogs and their mom, Raven, originally lived in Texas. Because of the distance, they were only able to visit Grandma Yonkia every once in a while.
Whenever it was time to leave, the dogs would look at Raven with heartbreaking puppy-dog eyes. The distance between their home and their grandmother’s house was taking a toll on the tight-knit family.
Realizing just how strong the bond was between her dogs and her mother, Raven knew she had to do something drastic.
A Life-Changing Decision
Raven could see that Zoe and Snoop missed Yonkia terribly between visits. The dogs simply adored their grandmother, and the feeling was entirely mutual.
“I absolutely love my grandbabies,” Yonkia shared, proving that the dogs were just as important to her as she was to them.
To bridge the gap, Raven decided to pack up her life and move from Texas to Georgia. The entire relocation was planned just so they could be closer to family.
Now, instead of rare visits, the trio gets to see Grandma at least twice a month.
The All-Inclusive Resort
A trip to Yonkia’s house is no ordinary visit. Raven affectionately calls her mother’s home “their all-inclusive resort.”
When Yonkia knows that Raven, Zoe, and Snoop are on the drive up, she immediately springs into action. She wants everything to be perfect for her furry grandchildren.
“I prepare everything to make sure that they feel comfortable the moment they step in the house,” Yonkia explained.
She even goes as far as setting up a special bedroom dedicated entirely to the dogs.
A Joyful Reunion
The moment the front door opens, pure chaos and joy erupt in the entryway. Zoe and Snoop are immediately greeted with the biggest hugs from their favorite person.
In that moment, Raven jokes that she practically ceases to exist. “All eyes are on Grandma,” she laughed.
“It’s like I’m invisible,” Raven added, watching her dogs completely ignore her in favor of Yonkia.
The dogs’ excitement is palpable as they finally get to soak up all the love they’ve been missing.
Five-Star Breakfast Service
The royal treatment begins first thing in the morning. Yonkia makes sure her grandbabies start their day off right.
For a special breakfast treat, she whips up homemade pup cups just for them.
There is definitely a bit of sibling rivalry when it comes to getting Grandma’s attention, but she has more than enough love for both of them.
The pups will happily cuddle with her on the couch, soaking in every ounce of affection.
Helping Out In The Yard
Throughout the day, Zoe and Snoop act as Yonkia’s little shadows. They follow her everywhere she goes around the house.
When Grandma heads outside to do some gardening, Zoe is right beside her, happily sunbathing in the yard while keeping a close eye on the work.
The dogs get plenty of special love from Grandpa, too. Snoop especially loves to sit and watch Grandpa tackle the outdoor yard work.
It’s a peaceful, perfect family routine that the dogs cherish.
The Sweetest Bedtime Routine
After a long day of relaxation, treats, and following their grandparents around, it’s finally time to wind down.
Yonkia’s bedtime routine for the dogs is just as attentive as the rest of the day. “I give them one last snack, then I bring them to bed, and I tuck them in,” she shared.
She makes sure they are perfectly comfortable under the blankets before leaning in to kiss them goodnight.
To top it all off, she even turns on a small night-light so her grandbabies can have sweet dreams.
The Hardest Part Is Leaving
Despite the move making visits much more frequent, the end of the trip is always difficult. Whenever it’s time to go back to their own home, Zoe absolutely refuses to leave.
“It is always a battle,” Raven admitted, watching her dog dig her heels in.
Raven always has to gently reassure her pup, promising, “It’s okay, Zoe. We’ll see Grandma again soon.”
Thanks to their mom’s incredible dedication, the dogs never have to wait long. In just a couple of weeks, they get to pack up and do it all over again.
