The Empty-Nester Pup
For one dedicated California pet parent, daily life revolves entirely around keeping their dog happy, entertained, and always by their side.
Nala is proudly described as an “empty-nester dog.” This means she gets the absolute best of everything her family has to offer.
Like any well-loved and slightly spoiled pup, Nala has amassed a massive collection of playthings.
But among the sea of plushies and squeakers, one specific toy held a very special place in her heart.
A Bond With Woody
Nala’s absolute favorite companion was a stuffed Woody doll.
She carried him around the house, treating the little cowboy like her ultimate best friend.
Despite having many, many other toys to choose from, Nala always went back to Woody.
Unfortunately, the intense love of a playful dog can be hard on a plush toy.
Injuries Too Severe
One day, Woody suffered some serious wear and tear from all the playtime.
Nala’s owner noticed the damage and desperately tried to fix the beloved doll.
“We really, really did everything we could, but the extent of Woody’s injuries were just too severe,” her owner explained.
Despite their best efforts to resurrect the toy, they were simply too late.
Moving On Without Him
With Woody gone, a noticeable void was left in Nala’s daily routine.
Her owner had the heartbreaking task of teaching the sweet dog to go on without her best friend.

“As soon as she heard his voice, that was it!” her owner recalled.

Nala was instantly reunited with her old friend, completely thrilled by his return.
She immediately went back to her old habits, taking the new Woody absolutely everywhere she went.
She was clearly obsessed all over again, playing until she finally tired out and fell asleep right by his side.
As for her owner, they are already preparing for the future. “I’m just sharpening my surgeon tools so I’m ready when new Woody needs another repair,” they joked.
