Missouri Great Dane Gets Too Big To Play With Other Dogs, So He Takes Matters Into His Own Paws
Israel the Great Dane was growing so fast that he needed a friend his own size. He found exactly what he was looking for in a mischievous Missouri mini horse named Barrett.
A Growing Boy
The owner had always dreamed of having a Great Dane. When they finally found a cute, wrinkly puppy, they knew instantly he was the one.
But this adorable puppy wasn’t going to stay small for long. In fact, he was about to become one of the biggest dogs anyone in the family had ever seen.
Israel the Great Dane grew at an astonishing rate. Before he even reached his first birthday, the massive dog tipped the scales at an incredible 180 pounds.
Outgrowing The Pack
Because of his immense size, Israel found it hard to play with the other dogs in the house. He was simply outgrowing everyone around him.
He needed someone who could match his boundless energy and his towering stature. His owner joked that Israel was desperately looking for someone his own size to play with.
One day, the giant dog looked out the window and spotted some interesting figures in the yard. He seemed to decide right then and there that his new best friend was waiting outside.
Slipping Under The Fence

Not even the freezing weather could keep these two best friends apart. When winter arrived, their daily playdates continued without a hitch.
Even when it was snowing heavily outside, Israel would always beg to go out to the pasture to see Barrett.
Every single day, regardless of the weather, the dog and the mini horse seemed to grow closer and closer.

Today, Israel and Barrett are like brothers, described affectionately by their owner as being “thicker than thieves.”
They might have the occasional sibling squabble, but for the most part, they are just incredibly happy to be together.
Their owner doesn’t think they even realize they are entirely different species. All that matters is that a giant dog who outgrew his world finally found the perfect friend who fits him just right.
