After being returned to the shelter twice, a deaf California dog named Juniper went on an agility-themed ‘dream date’ to prove she’s a perfect 10.
Waiting for the Right Match
Juniper is a gorgeous California dog with a sweet personality, but she hasn’t had the easiest journey.
She transferred into the Wallis Annenberg PetSpace from a South LA shelter, hoping for a fresh start. Unfortunately, she had been single for about two months and had already been returned twice.
The shelter team knew she just needed the right opportunity to shine and show off her true potential.

What makes Juniper extra special is that she is deaf.
For her special ‘dream date,’ she was paired with Jordan, an athlete who was a little nervous but very excited to meet her.
Jordan had worked with kids in high school and learned American Sign Language (ASL), making her uniquely prepared to communicate with a dog who understands visual cues.
An Athletic Challenge
Because Jordan is an athlete, she wanted to introduce Juniper to her world.
The plan for their date was to tackle an agility course together, a first for both of them.
Jordan had never trained a dog through agility before, but she was eager to see how Juniper would handle the challenge.
