Tuesday was found wandering the busy, unforgiving streets of the Skid Row area in Los Angeles. She was completely by herself, lacking both animal companions and human friends.

The terrified dog was doing everything she could to survive. She hid wherever she could find a sliver of safety, seeking refuge in the trash and under parked vehicles.

It was clear that life had not been kind to her, leaving her deeply fearful and mistrusting of anyone who tried to approach.

A dedicated worker from the organization Starts With One Today spotted the frightened dog. Knowing she needed immediate help, they refused to give up on her.

Because of her intense fear, catching her was no easy task. It took three full days of patient effort to finally secure her and get her to a veterinarian.

Coated In Motor Oil

When the veterinary team examined Tuesday, they realized the full extent of her neglect. She was completely covered in motor oil.

It wasn’t just a superficial mess on her fur. The oil was caked on in heavy layers.

The toxic substance had actually seeped deep into her skin, requiring extensive and careful cleaning to give her relief.

A Fateful Application

While Tuesday was beginning her physical recovery, her future family was unknowingly waiting for her. They came across her story through Stand Up For Pits.

Something about Tuesday’s sweet face and heartbreaking past spoke directly to their hearts. They knew they had to help her.

They quickly turned in an adoption application, hoping for the best. To their delight, they were accepted to be Tuesday’s forever family.

The First Timid Days

Tuesday’s journey home was the start of a brand new life, but the transition wasn’t easy. The trauma of her past still weighed heavily on her.

During her first few days in her new house, she would simply "pancake" on the floor. She stayed completely still, frozen in fear.

Her new parents had to gently move her themselves, giving her the space and time she needed to realize she was finally safe.

The house was full of new and intimidating obstacles for the timid dog. The staircase, in particular, was a terrifying challenge.

For at least the first month, Tuesday absolutely refused to go up or down the stairs on her own.

Her dedicated dad patiently carried her up and down the steps every single day, making sure she never felt pressured or overwhelmed.

Learning To Walk Without Fear

Even going outside for a simple walk was a sensory overload. Tuesday was incredibly jumpy everywhere they went.

The slightest sound, like the crinkle of a dry leaf, would send her into a panic. Her parents took things incredibly slow.

Over time, she began to get comfortable with walking. She even started looking for her parents and seeking them out for comfort.

Discovering The Beach

As her confidence grew, Tuesday’s true personality finally began to shine through. The once-terrified dog discovered a love for the great outdoors.

Now, she simply cannot get enough of exploring the woods and running along the beach.

She always wants to keep walking, eagerly taking in the sights and smells of the sandy shoreline.

A Big Loving Family

Tuesday’s world has expanded far beyond her immediate parents. She is now part of a large, bustling family filled with kids and siblings.

When she first arrived, she was incredibly cautious around new people. Now, she is the complete opposite.

She absolutely loves her family and won’t leave anybody alone, happily showering her dad with endless kisses.

The Power Of Patience

Tuesday’s remarkable transformation is a testament to the healing power of love. Her family believes that patience is the key to unlocking a rescue dog’s potential.

As her dad notes, if you are willing to give a dog time and allow them to be themselves, they will always surprise you.

Every single day, Tuesday learns something new about her family, and they learn something new about her. For this lucky dog, every day is a great day, and when it’s Tuesday, it’s even better.
