California Dog With Heartbreaking Skin Condition Gets A Stylish Second Chance At Life
After being failed by humans, a sweet dog named Reese needed a safe place to heal. With the help of cozy pajamas and a dedicated foster family, she transformed into a confident, stylish pup ready for her forever home.
A Heartbreaking Discovery

When rescuers in California first laid eyes on a sweet dog named Reese, they were heartbroken by her physical condition. It was hard to imagine that she was only one year old.
Her skin was in terrible shape, a clear sign of severe neglect. “When we saw Reese’s skin, it made me feel instant sadness,” one rescuer recalled.
It was obvious to everyone that a human had failed her. A dog simply doesn’t end up in that kind of painful condition for no reason.
A Glimmer Of Hope

Despite her painful past, Reese hadn’t given up on people. When greeted by the rescue team, she still showed signs of a gentle spirit.
“You could still see a little glisten of hope,” her rescuer explained. It was clear that she still had so much love left in her heart to give.
The rescue sees many dogs with medical issues, but Reese truly stood out to the staff. She just needed someone to give her a chance to heal.
Finding A Safe Haven

Reese needed a special, comfortable environment to recover properly. The shelter environment wouldn’t be enough for her extensive healing journey.
Thankfully, an amazing couple reached out to help. They offered to take the sweet girl into their home and give her the daily care she desperately needed.
Moving into a new home can be scary, and her foster parents were initially a little nervous. They knew Reese had endured a very tough life and wanted to make sure they did everything right.
Earning Her Trust

Reese quickly proved that she was ready to be loved. She surprised her new caretakers by taking to her foster mom, Rebecca, “like peanut butter to jelly.”
It took a little longer for her to warm up to her other foster parent. Trust had to be earned slowly and patiently.
But eventually, she realized she was completely safe. Now, she sticks to her foster parents “like Velcro,” soaking up all the affection she missed out on as a puppy.
The Purpose Of Pajamas

Because of her severe skin issues, Reese was missing a lot of her fur. To keep her comfortable, her fosters started dressing her in adorable pajamas.
These outfits weren’t just for “funsies,” though they certainly looked cute. The pajamas served a twofold, highly functional purpose for the recovering pup.
They protected her sensitive skin from the elements while she healed. At the same time, they kept her looking incredibly chic and cool.
Turning Heads On Walks

Once she was dressed in her cozy outfits, Reese was ready to explore the world. Her daily walks quickly became a neighborhood event.
“Whenever we take Reese out on walks, everyone’s always commenting on her stylish threads,” her foster parent shared.
With her new wardrobe and growing confidence, she easily became the cutest dog on the block. Her personality was finally shining through.
A Special Shopping Spree

The team at The Dodo noticed that Reese could use a few more outfits for her daily rotation. They decided to treat the fashionable pup to a special day out.
They took Reese down to the local pet store for what they called a “PJ palooza.” The goal was to let Reese pick out her very own set of stylish clothes.
Browsing the aisles, Reese’s fosters helped her check out the options. “Fashion is my area of expertise, so I was really excited to help her pick out something cute,” her foster parent joked.
Ready For Her Forever

They found outfits with little pockets and tested out different fun styles. When she tried on a special bunny outfit, everyone agreed she looked absolutely stunning.
With her new clothes and a cup full of treats, Reese’s transformation was complete. She has come incredibly far from the sad, furless dog they first met.
Her foster family is thrilled to have played a small part in her healing journey. Now, this beautiful, pajama-wearing pup is ready to go love her forever family, and as her fosters note, “They will be very lucky to have her.”
