Florida Woman Joins A Run Club With Her Dog, But He Quickly Becomes The Star Of Every Meetup
When a woman moved to Florida without knowing a single person, her energetic dog stepped up as the ultimate wingman, helping her find a community and completely changing her life.
The Telltale Running Shoes
Every adventure begins with a simple morning routine in Florida. For Maverick, the cue that something amazing is about to happen is the sight of his mom’s running shoes.
“As soon as I start to put my shoes on, that’s when he loses all patience,” she explained. He paces and fusses, making it clear that they need to leave immediately.
Maverick isn’t just a casual walker. According to his mom, the energetic pup is a complete “running fiend.”
Stepping Out Of Their Comfort Zone
Hoping to meet new people and settle into her Florida life, Maverick’s mom decided to try something new. She found a local run club and decided to bring her enthusiastic dog along.
They started attending the weekly gatherings, hoping to just blend in and get some exercise. But Maverick had other plans for their social life.

“That’s when we start to get feral,” his mom joked. “He just cannot control himself at run club. He forgets all of his manners.”
When the leader calls out to the 9-minute crew to see if they are ready to roll, Maverick is already poised at the starting line.
The Ultimate Little Wingman
For a naturally anxious person in a new city, approaching strangers can be terrifying. “I’m nervous to go up and meet people,” his mom admitted.
That’s where Maverick steps up to save the day. He acts as the greatest little wingman, eagerly running up to everyone they meet.
His friendly demeanor breaks the ice instantly. It’s as if he’s telling every runner, “Hey! You’re here for me! Hi!”

Once the run begins, Maverick is completely in his element. He smiles from ear to ear, radiating pure joy with every step.
“He is like the epitome of main character energy at run club,” his mom said. Every single time they go out, he acts as if it’s the greatest day of his life.

The physical exercise is great, but the emotional benefits have been life-changing. Being able to go for a run with her dog has become the ultimate therapy for Maverick’s mom.
Watching him be so joyful and present in the moment allows her to do the same. She can focus on her breath and simply enjoy the journey.
She can no longer even associate the sport of running without Maverick being involved.

Looking back at her lonely arrival in Florida, Maverick’s mom never would have imagined her life would look like it does now. Through weekly miles and wagging tails, they finally found their people.
Maverick proved to be much more than just a running buddy. “He really is my soul dog,” she shared.
