Family Sees Their Florida Dog Springboard Into A Pool And Makes A Wild Decision
Thor the dog loved water so much that his family transformed their home to support his dock-diving dreams.
A Deep Love For The Water

Darnel knew his dog, Thor, was special from the start. But there was one thing about the energetic pup that stood out above all else.
Thor was absolutely obsessed with water. He couldn’t get enough of splashing, swimming, and playing.
Whenever he saw a body of water, his first instinct was to dive right in. To help him cool off, his family decided to purchase an inflatable above-ground pool for their backyard.
They figured it would be a nice treat for hot days. But for Thor, it was pure happiness. He began running up to the edge and springboarding directly into the water.
Discovering A Hidden Talent

People who saw Thor’s impressive leaps into the backyard pool started making suggestions. They told Darnel that he should look into getting his dog involved in dock diving.
At first, the family didn’t even know what the sport entailed. But they decided to give it a try to see if Thor would enjoy it.
Unsurprisingly, the athletic dog ended up excelling at it. His natural springboard technique was absolutely perfect for the sport.
The Ultimate Indoor Upgrade

Thor’s love for swimming grew so strong that a simple backyard pool was no longer enough. His family wanted him to be able to enjoy his favorite activity all year round.
In an incredible act of devotion, they converted their single-car garage into a dedicated pool house just for him.
They even installed a heater in the new indoor setup. Thanks to this massive upgrade, Thor can now swim 365 days out of the year.
A Musical Cue

Thor has become so attuned to his swimming routine that he even has his own theme song. His mom discovered that playing "Call on Me" gets an immediate reaction.
She can turn the music on from anywhere in the house, and Thor will come running from upstairs.
Of course, just asking, "Thor, you want to go in the pool?" works just as well. Once he’s in the water, though, getting him out is another story.
He often ignores his dad, acting like he can’t hear him, just to get one more lap in.
Making Room For A Little Sister

Recently, Thor’s family grew by one more. They welcomed a one-year-old Boston Terrier named Rosie into the home.
Rosie is Thor’s new little sister, and she loves spending time outside with him. However, Thor is known to hog the main pool all to himself.
To make sure Rosie wasn’t left out, the family set up a smaller six-foot pool just for her. Now, they have a total of three pools on the property to keep both dogs happy.
The Front Seat VIP

Thor isn’t just spoiled at home; he gets the royal treatment on the road, too. When the family goes traveling, Thor is always right in the middle of the action.
In fact, he gets to sit in the front passenger seat right next to Darnel.
Surprisingly, this seating arrangement was entirely his mom’s idea. She happily sits in the back seat so her beloved dog can ride shotgun.
A Strict Daily Schedule

Despite his laid-back pool lifestyle, Thor is a dog with endless energy. Darnel describes him as a kid who is always on the go.
After they come inside for the evening, Thor demands a full hour of ball play before finally getting his goodnight treats.
His internal clock is incredibly precise, waking him up at exactly 5:14 in the morning. The very first thing he does is grab a ball to start the day.
Interestingly, the only water he doesn’t like is rain. If there’s even a slight drizzle outside, Thor will immediately run back indoors.
A Dog With Human Emotions

Darnel firmly believes that Thor understands almost everything they say to him. He is incredibly smart and wears his heart on his sleeve.
"He’s got every emotion of a child," Darnel explained. If he’s told no, he will actually pout, but when he’s having fun, he visibly smiles.
His emotional intelligence truly shines when someone in the house is feeling down. He will walk over and gently place a paw on their shoulder to offer comfort.
Living In The Moment

For Darnel, coming home to Thor makes any bad day at work instantly melt away. Walking through the door and seeing his dog’s joyful face puts everything into perspective.
Thor teaches his family to just live in the moment and appreciate what they have right now.
"We always joke that every day is Thor’s very best day because that’s all we have," Darnel shared.
They don’t dwell on yesterday or worry about tomorrow, choosing instead to make today the best day possible for their remarkable dog.
