Oregon Pit Bull Rehomed Three Times Was Found On The Street Before A Strange Moment At The Shelter
After being rehomed multiple times and ending up homeless, a senior pit bull named Lola finally met an Oregon family who embraces her main character energy.
A Fateful Shelter Meeting

Lola’s life didn’t start out with the stability every dog deserves. The senior pit bull had been passed around from her first owner to a second, and then to a third.
Eventually, the system failed her completely, and she found herself wandering the streets without a home.
Fortunately, a kind stranger spotted her and brought her to a local shelter, hoping someone would give the older dog a second chance.
That’s when Courtney, a woman with a soft spot for senior dogs, saw Lola’s photo and knew she had to meet her.
Courtney and her partner immediately headed to the shelter to see if they were a match. When they arrived, Lola’s reaction was unforgettable.
“She walked in the room, and it was like, ‘Oh, you guys are here to pick me up,'” Courtney recalled.
Claiming Her Castle

The transition from stray shelter dog to pampered pet was instantaneous.
As soon as she arrived at Courtney’s house, Lola walked in like she owned the place.
She promptly climbed up onto the couch and decided that was her new permanent spot.
According to Courtney, the senior dog has barely left the comfortable cushions since that very first day.
Choosing Her Favorite Human

Despite Courtney being the one who initiated the adoption, Lola played favorites early on.
She immediately gravitated toward Courtney’s partner and made her preferences known.
Courtney joked that Lola treated her more like a servant or a “feeder lady” in those early days.
Over time, their bond has grown immensely, but the senior dog definitely made Courtney work for her affection.
Giving Up On Training

Part of the initial friction came from Courtney’s attempts to teach the senior dog new rules.
Lola had some previous training, but she was definitely a lady set in her ways.
“Once I gave up on training her, we had a much better relationship,” Courtney admitted.
Now, they have a wonderful understanding, built on accepting Lola exactly as she is.
A Furry Little Comedian

Living with Lola is never boring.
Courtney describes her as part pit bull, part therapist, and a total drama queen.
The vocal dog has a specific bark for every occasion, from the UPS driver arriving to the local school bus driving by.
Whether she wants to play or is demanding her dinner, Lola makes sure her voice is heard loud and clear.
The Diet Struggles

Because Lola loves her food and her couch time, she is carrying a little bit of extra weight.
Her family tries to put her on a diet, but the clever dog becomes absolutely ravenous.
She has even resorted to sneaking into a bag of cough drops and devouring a whole container of cat treats.
Keeping her away from snacks has become a full-time job for her dedicated parents.
The Stubborn Walker

Courtney tries her best to get Lola out for daily walks to help with her weight and keep her active.
The senior dog usually starts out enthusiastic, ready to explore the neighborhood.
However, about half a mile into the stroll, Lola simply decides she is done walking.
“It’s like you’re trying to pull a boulder with a rope,” Courtney laughed.
Living The Lap Of Luxury

Courtney, who used to work in veterinary medicine, has always had a special place in her heart for pit bulls.
She knows they are often misunderstood, but dogs like Lola prove just how wonderful and loving they can be.
Today, Lola sleeps on her very own twin bed with a mattress that Courtney claims is nicer than her own.
“She just really acts like we should be doing this for her,” Courtney said. “It’s almost like she’s like Beyonce, but it’s Lola.”
