One By One, Her Puppies Left The Colorado Shelter Until Their Mom Was The Only One Waiting
After being transferred from Texas to Colorado, a sweet mother dog watched her entire litter get adopted before her. Thankfully, the perfect dad was just around the corner.
A Long Journey North
Bee’s story didn’t start in the mountains where she lives today. She originally found herself in a shelter down in Texas.
She wasn’t alone when she arrived, either. The sweet dog was taken in alongside a full litter of her own puppies.
Hoping for better adoption prospects and a fresh start, the whole family was transported to the Foothills Animal Shelter in Denver, Colorado.
The Last One Waiting
Once they arrived in Colorado, the puppies quickly caught the eyes of eager adopters.
Chris Becker, who would eventually become Bee’s dad, noted that her puppies looked almost exactly like her. Some of the babies had cute freckles on their faces, which might have helped them stand out to families.
One by one, every single puppy was adopted. Bee was the only one left behind, waiting in her kennel for someone to choose her.
The Perfect Match
Chris couldn’t understand why a dog as wonderful as Bee had been overlooked by so many people.
When he first met her at the shelter, she immediately showed him her true, gentle personality. Instead of jumping wildly or barking at the kennel door, Bee was calm and grounded.
"Bee was just like the perfect dog," Chris recalled. She was incredibly chill and not overly energetic, and Chris instantly fell in love with her.
The Ultimate Velcro Dog
Once Bee realized she was finally home, she made sure to never let her new dad out of her sight.
She quickly earned the title of a "Velcro dog" because of her intense need to be close to Chris. Bee follows him absolutely everywhere he goes.
"We joke sometimes that she would like to wear our skin if she could," Chris shared. Whether they are relaxing on the couch or settling into bed, Bee is always right there snuggling.
Feline Friends And Funny Faces
Bee’s new home also came with two resident cats, and she desperately wants to be their best friend.
However, she hasn’t quite figured out how to bridge the species gap. She often does playful bows and sniffs at them, hoping to start a game. But if the cats reach out to touch her, she quickly decides she doesn’t like it.
This dynamic leads to Bee’s signature "look of concern." It’s a highly expressive, serious face she makes whenever the cats get too close, when she sees food she can’t have, or when she spots a dog she isn’t allowed to play with.
Changing Minds And Hearts
As a pit bull mix, Bee sometimes faces unfair stereotypes, but she handles the world with nothing but grace.
Chris notes that Colorado is a very dog-friendly place, which has helped challenge the stigma surrounding her breed. However, they do notice a difference when traveling to places like Aspen.
Surrounded by designer dogs, Bee sometimes receives less affection from strangers. But Bee doesn’t judge anyone; she just accepts people as they are and wants everyone to be happy.
A Mutual Healing
The bond between Chris and Bee goes far beyond a typical pet-and-owner relationship.
She is incredibly intuitive, sensing exactly when Chris needs comfort. In return, he provides a safe, comforting space for her whenever she feels unsure.
Navigating the world together has given them both a higher degree of confidence. They travel everywhere as a team, relying on each other for quiet support.
An Inseparable Bond
Today, Bee is proudly a "daddy’s girl" and Chris’s absolute best friend.
She has become such an integral part of his life that she feels like a true extension of his own personality. In fact, people who know Chris often don’t even recognize him if Bee isn’t walking right by his side.
The gentle mother dog who watched her puppies leave without her has finally found the one person who will never let her go.
