A Heartbreaking Discovery

Howard’s wife and her sister had always been passionate about rescuing animals in need. They were used to seeing heartbreaking situations, but one particular rescue would end up changing Howard’s life forever.

A tiny Chihuahua named Jesse had been discovered in the most tragic of circumstances. He was found inside a foreclosed house, completely abandoned by his previous owners.

Whenever Howard announces, “Mommy’s home,” Jesse immediately runs out the door crying tears of joy. He only stops crying once his mom finally picks him up and holds him securely.

Howard soon learned that he couldn’t go anywhere without Jesse, either. If he has to leave the house, he tries to find someone to watch the little dog, but Jesse still refuses to relax.

When Howard asks, “You want to go out?” Jesse knows exactly what that means, too. He is highly attentive to everything his parents say and do.

The bond between Howard and Jesse has grown into something truly profound. What started as a reluctant adoption has turned into a deeply co-dependent relationship.

“The two of us are each other’s security blanket,” Howard explained. They rely on each other for comfort, safety, and emotional support every single day.

A Guardian Angel

For Howard, Jesse’s presence has been nothing short of lifesaving. Howard has a history of serious health issues, including living without a colon and a thyroid.

Dealing with these medical challenges takes a toll, but Jesse is always there to lift his spirits. “He is my guardian angel,” Howard shared.

Howard firmly believes that without the little dog by his side, he would probably be in the hospital much more often. Jesse acts as his sidekick, keeping him motivated to get up and keep moving.
