California Pit Bull Had No Behavior Issues, Yet His Shelter File Told A Troubling Story
After being surrendered and left in a California kennel for a year, a senior dog’s luck finally changed when his sweet face caught the attention of a dedicated rescue founder.
A Devastating Label

As the months ticked by, Bobby’s situation grew increasingly dire. He spent an entire year waiting in his lonely kennel.
Eventually, the shelter placed the senior dog on their red list. He was given just two weeks before his situation became extremely urgent.
The reason for his placement on the urgent list was recorded as a safety concern regarding his behavior. For a pit bull in a crowded facility, this label is often a tragic sentence.
The Truth About The Shelter Favorite

But the label on his file could not have been further from the truth. Bobby had absolutely zero behavior issues.
In reality, he wouldn’t hurt a fly. He was actually the favorite dog at the shelter, adored by all the volunteers who spent time with him.
The shelter was simply facing a severe space crisis. Even highly adoptable, loving dogs like Bobby were getting overlooked and running out of time.
A Fateful Television Appearance

Bobby’s luck finally began to turn when his sweet face was featured on Good Morning America. Shira, the founder of the Animal Rescue Mission, received a link to the segment.
As soon as she saw the senior dog’s story, she knew she had to intervene. She dropped everything and went to the shelter immediately to meet him.
She walked through the noisy kennel doors, searching for the dog who had captured her heart through a screen.
Love At First Sight

The second Shira met Bobby, it was as if he knew she was there just for him. He immediately rolled onto his back to ask for belly rubs.
Shira fell in love with the gentle prince within a single second. Looking at his sweet waddle and trusting eyes, she made him a promise.
“Don’t worry,” she told him. “You’re safe now.”
Leaving The Kennel Behind

Shira worked quickly to secure an amazing foster home for the senior dog. Finally, after a year of confinement, Bobby left the shelter behind.
“Bobby is officially free,” his rescuers celebrated as he walked out the doors. He was finally ready to start his new life.
However, his long stay in the kennel had taken a toll on his body. He had gained ten pounds during his confinement, turning into what his rescuers affectionately called an “obese little walking potato.”
Healing An Aching Body

The transition to a home environment required some patience. Bobby suffered from a very bad stomach for about a month after leaving the shelter.
His rescuers suspected it was from a year of eating shelter food, dirt, and whatever else he could find in his run.
He had also suffered from a severe lack of exercise. Dogs in his section of the shelter were lucky to get walked even once a month, leaving him completely out of shape.
Reclaiming His Youth

Once his stomach healed, Bobby started a gentle workout routine in his foster home. He proved to be quite the little athlete.
Through regular walks and proper care, the senior dog has already lost eight pounds. His transformation has been nothing short of incredible.
Today, he is so healthy and vibrant that you would never guess his true age. If you didn’t know he was ten, you would easily think he was only five years old.
Spreading Smiles Everywhere

Bobby’s joyful spirit is absolutely contagious. Any room he walks into, people immediately start smiling.
During a recent visit to a restaurant, everyone in the establishment was completely enamored with the sweet senior dog.
He lives entirely in the moment. Even though he was abandoned and left in a kennel for a year, he loves people unconditionally and shows his gratitude for every single second.
Waiting For The Perfect Match

Despite his incredible personality and glowing health, Bobby is still waiting for his forever family. Sadly, his rescuers haven’t received any adoption inquiries for him yet.
Being a ten-year-old pit bull means he still faces the same hurdles that caused him to be overlooked in the shelter.
But his rescue team refuses to give up hope. They know his perfect home is out there, and until they find it, Bobby will continue living his best, most pampered life.
