Washington Mother Dog Saw All Her Puppies Move On And Now Spends Nearly 22 Hours A Day In Her Kennel
A devoted mother dog was surrendered to Washington shelter so she could receive a life-saving c-section. While all her puppies found homes, sweet Kylie has been waiting three years for a family of her own.
A Heartbreaking Sacrifice

Kylie’s journey began with a profound act of love and sacrifice. She originally lived on a farm, but she ran into severe complications during her pregnancy.
She desperately needed a c-section to survive, an expensive procedure her family simply could not afford.
Knowing they couldn’t provide the medical care she required, her family made the difficult decision to surrender her to a shelter.
It was a heartbreaking goodbye, but it was the only way to ensure Kylie and her unborn babies would make it through the ordeal.
Left Behind While Her Puppies Moved On

Thanks to the shelter’s intervention, the surgery was a success. Luckily, all of Kylie’s puppies were born completely healthy.
As the puppies grew, they were quickly scooped up by loving families. Everyone wanted a cute, playful puppy to take home.
But Kylie, the brave mother who endured so much, was left behind. For whatever reason, she just wasn’t able to find the right fit.
After spending an entire year waiting in a Spokane shelter, staff decided to transfer her to the Benton Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, hoping a new city would bring her better luck.
A Special Bond With A Volunteer

At her new shelter, Kylie quickly caught the eye of a dedicated volunteer who has now known her for two years.
The volunteer, who has been helping at animal shelters since she was 13, originally dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.
Though her career path changed, her passion for helping animals never wavered. She makes it a point to sit in Kylie’s kennel just to keep her company.
Kylie happily leans in for pets, soaking up every ounce of affection she can get during those precious visits.
The Pink Pig And Endless Squeaks

To brighten up the long days, the volunteer often stops by the pet store on her way to the shelter. She always tries to pick up an extra toy just for Kylie.
Kylie is absolutely obsessed with her toys, especially a bright pink pig that she loves to keep in her kennel.
When she gets excited, she happily does little circles and chomps down on her new gifts.
You can often hear the joyful squeaking of her toys echoing from all the way across the shelter floor.
The Toll Of Shelter Life

Despite the happy moments, the reality of shelter life is incredibly tough on the sweet dog.
She doesn’t get nearly as much people time as she would like. Without extra volunteers to take her outside, she is stuck in her kennel for around 22 hours a day.
The prolonged stress of the shelter environment seems to have changed her over time.
While she once lived on a farm, the overwhelming experience has caused her to become reactive to other animals.
Sensitive Tummy, Sweet Soul

Along with her behavioral quirks, Kylie has a few special physical needs. During her difficult pregnancy, she suffered a prolapse.
Because of her sensitive stomach, she can only have specific, gentle treats during training and visits.
But what she lacks in dietary flexibility, she makes up for in pure charm. Listed as a shepherd mix, she has an adorable, slightly boxy face that volunteers adore.
Her favorite volunteer is even trying to get a doggy DNA kit donated to finally solve the mystery of her breed.
The Challenge Of Finding The Right Fit

Because Kylie no longer enjoys the company of other animals, finding her a forever home has proven to be an uphill battle.
Her volunteer notes that this is likely 90 percent of the reason she hasn’t been adopted, as most animal lovers already have a dog or a cat at home.
However, when it comes to humans, Kylie is a total social butterfly. She is incredibly comfortable meeting new people and loves making new friends.
When the volunteer brought her niece to the shelter, Kylie was thrilled, soaking up the attention and acting like every person she meets is the best thing ever.
Holding Out Hope For A Hero

The local area is currently facing a massive pet overpopulation crisis, making Kylie’s situation even more precarious.
Her volunteer knows that Kylie is incredibly lucky to be at the Benton Franklin Humane Society, as she might have been euthanized at other overcrowded facilities.
What this sweet girl really needs is a dedicated foster or adopter who can offer her a quiet, single-pet household.
Until that hero arrives, her favorite volunteer will keep bringing her toys, sitting by her side, and promising her that an absolutely amazing home is out there waiting.
