Texas Dog On Euthanasia List Gets A Pup Cup And Realizes His Life Is Finally Beginning
When Fabian rescued a nervous Texas dog from the euthanasia list, he didn’t know much about his past. But a simple sweet treat on the car ride home proved to be the icebreaker this sweet pup desperately needed.
A Leap of Faith for a Forgotten Soul

For a sweet dog named Donatello Espresso Coronado, time was running out. He found himself sitting in a shelter with a bleak future ahead of him.
His new dad, Fabian, didn’t know much about the dog’s past. All he knew was that this gentle boy was out of time.
“I don’t have any background on him besides that he was on the euthanasia list,” Fabian explained.
Knowing that this dog deserved a second chance, Fabian stepped up to change his life forever. The journey to a new beginning was about to start.
The Magic of a Pup Cup

On the car ride away from the shelter, Donatello was understandably anxious. Everything was new, and he wasn’t sure what to expect from the man behind the wheel.
To help break the ice, Fabian decided to introduce his new best friend to a drive-thru delicacy. He handed the nervous dog a small cup filled with whipped cream.
“Papas, have you ever had one of these?” Fabian asked gently. “That’s called a pup cup, papas.”
The sweet treat worked like a charm. As Donatello happily licked the cup clean, Fabian noted that you simply can’t resist a pup cup, no matter how nervous you are.
Stepping Into Freedom

With his belly full of whipped cream, Donatello arrived at his new home. Fabian gently encouraged him as he took in his new surroundings.
“You’re home. You’re free,” Fabian told him. It was a beautiful moment of realization for a dog who had been so close to losing everything.
Fabian could tell that the dog understood he was finally safe. “He knows he’s home,” he said.
The nervous energy from the car ride was already beginning to fade, replaced by a quiet sense of security.
Discovering His Own Toys

Every dog deserves a home filled with things that belong to them. For Donatello, discovering his new toys was a revelation.
As the dog investigated the fun items laid out for him, Fabian couldn’t contain his excitement. “Yes! That’s yours!” he cheered.
He continued to encourage the curious pup, reminding him that he didn’t have to share. “Those are yours!”
It was essentially a rebirth for the rescue dog. As Fabian put it, “It’s basically your birthday, my boy.”
Making Up for Lost Time

As the days passed, the bond between Fabian and Donatello grew incredibly strong. It felt as though they had been together for a lifetime.
“I was like, ‘Wow. Have I had him forever?'” Fabian marveled at how perfectly the dog fit into his life.
However, knowing that Donatello was around four years old brought a bittersweet realization. Fabian wished he could have been there for the dog’s early years.
“It kind of breaks my heart to think about how we went four years without each other,” he admitted.
The Hardest Part of the Day

Having such a loving companion at home made Fabian’s daily routine a little more difficult in one specific way. Leaving for work became a daily struggle.
Donatello would look at him with sweet, soulful eyes, making it nearly impossible to walk out the door.
“You know, you make it hard to go to work. Do you know that?” Fabian would tell his pup.
But the hard goodbyes made the homecomings that much sweeter. Every time Fabian returned, he was greeted with pure joy.
Exploring the World Together

With trust fully established, Fabian started taking Donatello on outdoor adventures. They began exploring the world as a team.
Fabian showed his dog all of his favorite outdoor spots. “This here, Donatello, is one of my favorite spots,” he shared during one of their walks.
They even got to experience the magic of winter together. When they encountered snow, Fabian watched in delight as Donatello investigated the frosty ground.
“It’s snow. Yeah, I used to do that when I was a kid,” Fabian laughed, watching his dog play.
The Dog He Always Imagined

Looking back at where they started, Fabian is incredibly grateful that he took a chance on the dog from the euthanasia list. Donatello has exceeded every expectation.
“This is literally what I imagined with me and my pup. And here we are,” Fabian reflected with a smile.
He firmly believes that he ended up with the greatest companion possible. “This dog right here is the best dog that any man can ask for. Any person, really.”
Together, they are ready for whatever the future holds. “We got this! Together, we can do anything,” Fabian declared, proving that love truly can save a life.
