A Desperate Call For Help
Tyra was dealt a difficult hand from the very beginning. Born with both of her front legs deformed, the tiny puppy faced a world that wasn’t built for her.
When she was dropped off at a local rescue to be euthanized, her story nearly ended before it even began. But the rescue staff knew this little dog deserved a fighting chance.
They put out a call for someone who could help figure out exactly what the special-needs pup would require to live a full life. That’s when a dedicated animal lover saw her situation.
Without hesitation, she stepped forward to take on the challenge. “And so I was like, ‘I can do it!'” her new foster mom recalled.
A Summer Of Progress
The first major hurdle was mobility. Over the summer, Tyra’s caregiver dedicated herself to helping the little dog learn how to navigate the world.
The ultimate goal was to get Tyra fitted for a custom set of wheels. It was a steep learning curve for both of them.
They spent months working on her strength and coordination. Every day was a step toward giving Tyra the independence she craved.
Wheels And Treats
Adjusting to the new wheelchair didn’t happen overnight. It took Tyra some time to understand how the device worked and trust that it would support her.

Enter Rey, a gentle 70-pound dog who became Tyra’s sister. The contrast between the two is striking, as Tyra weighs a mere six pounds.
Bringing Out The Best
The two dogs have completely opposite personalities, yet they have proven to be exactly what the other needed.
Rey’s calm and quiet demeanor helps Tyra feel entirely at ease and safe in her environment. In return, the tiny, energetic Tyra has helped the large dog come out of her shell.
Before Tyra arrived, Rey was reserved, but the little pup has encouraged her to play more. They even wrestle, with Tyra fearlessly jumping all over her big sister.
A Sassy And Joyful Spirit
Because of her front legs, Tyra hops when she’s not in her wheels, unable to walk one foot at a time.
But her mobility differences don’t slow down her vibrant personality. She is incredibly joyful, curious, and energetic.
According to her mom, Tyra “has no ability to be chill.” She is full of sassy opinions and loves to experience new things.
Big Dreams And Neighborhood Cats
Tyra’s confidence shines brightest when she’s out exploring the world in her cart. She is always on the lookout for her next big adventure.
She especially loves to chase cats in the neighborhood during her walks.
Of course, her wheels ensure she never gets remotely close to catching them, but that doesn’t stop her from trying with all her might.
A Heart Full Of Love
More than anything, Tyra just wants to meet everyone she crosses paths with. Her rough start in life hasn’t made her fearful of humans at all.
Instead, she embraces every day with boundless affection and enthusiasm.
“I’ve just never really met a dog that loves people so much,” her mom shared, proving that this little survivor was always meant to shine.
