Texas Dog Got Zero Applications For Nine Months, Then Her New Mom Cried For A Week

After sitting in foster care for nine months with zero applications, Kiki finally found a home in Texas. But the transition wasn’t easy, and it took a special rule of patience to unlock her true personality.

The Ultimate Sign Of Relaxation

When Kiki is lying down to sleep or just relaxing with her family, her tongue slowly slips out.

“You could tell she’s really relaxed when her tongue gets longer and longer,” Stephanie shared.

Eventually, it just flops completely out of her mouth. She is so at peace that her family can even gently pull on it, and she doesn’t mind one bit.

For Kiki, the only thing that matters is that she is finally safe and resting next to the people she loves.

Tap Dances And Stuffed Alpacas

Beyond her unique smile, Kiki has developed some incredibly silly habits.

When she realizes it’s time for a walk or a meal, she can hardly contain her excitement. She performs a little “tap dance,” spinning around in joyful circles to celebrate.

She also has a favorite toy—a stuffed alpaca—that she plays with in her own special way.

She loves to carry the alpaca to the couch, rub it against her back, and then try to grab it again in a goofy display of playtime.

A Forever Family Bond

It has now been a little over a year since Stephanie and her husband brought Kiki home last April.

Since Stephanie works from home, she and Kiki have become inseparable. But the sweet dog loves her dad just as much, always watching the door and looking back at Stephanie if he isn’t home on time.

Looking back at those difficult early weeks, Stephanie is incredibly grateful they pushed through the hard times.

“She’s such a good girl, and I’m glad we didn’t give up on her because she definitely deserved a loving home,” Stephanie said.
