A Heartbreaking Theory

Animal control officers had originally found the senior dog wandering as a stray. They knocked on neighborhood doors, convinced that this dog belonged to someone nearby.
Unfortunately, the rescue team suspected a much sadder reality. They believed his previous owners had simply pushed him out into the street when his medical needs became too much to handle.
An Overpowering Scent
The dog, named Bobo, was suffering from severe neglect. His teeth were the worst Jean had ever seen, colored in shades of black, gray, and green.
The smell radiating from his mouth was absolutely unspeakable.
Because Jean’s house was small, Bobo had to spend his quarantine period in her husband’s office.
Whenever her husband sat down to eat, he had to light a scented candle just to mask the overpowering odor.
A Frightening Vet Visit
As Bobo settled in, Jean realized he was also struggling with severe incontinence.
A trip to the veterinarian revealed the painful truth behind his accidents. Bobo had a massive bladder stone the size of a quarter.
He was in such incredibly rough shape that Jean feared the worst.
She wasn’t sure if his medical issues were so severe that he would need to be euthanized.
Healing and Relief
Thankfully, the veterinary team was able to perform life-changing surgery to help the suffering senior.
Bobo had a staggering 21 rotten teeth extracted. They also successfully removed the massive bladder stone that had been causing him so much pain.
Almost immediately, the senior dog started feeling so much better.
His incontinence vanished, and he no longer had accidents in the house, though Jean makes sure to take him out every hour or two.
Navigating the Dark
Despite his physical recovery, Bobo still had to navigate life without his vision.
He is completely blind, and Jean doesn’t believe he can even distinguish light from dark.
Still, she goes out of her way to make him feel secure in his environment.
If she leaves him alone in a room, she always leaves the lights on just to be safe.
A Flabbergasting DNA Reveal
Bobo’s unique, hairless appearance led Jean to assume he was a Chinese Crested mix.
People often commented on his looks, with some calling him the ugliest dog they had ever seen, though Jean thought he was incredibly cute.
Curiosity finally got the best of her, and she ordered a doggy DNA test.
When the results came back, she was absolutely flabbergasted to learn he was mostly Pekingese mixed with a little Jack Russell.
Walking on Eggshells
As Bobo grew more comfortable, his demanding personality began to shine through.
He insists on three meals a day and has very specific pet peeves. Jean admits that living with him can sometimes feel like walking on eggshells.
One night, a dropped berry made a soft thud on the floor, prompting Bobo to start growling.
He also becomes furious at the sound of Jean shaking her oat milk matcha, forcing her to prepare her drinks in another room.
Unconditional Love
Bobo was originally supposed to be put up for adoption once he healed.
However, because of his extensive special needs, Jean decided she will be caring for him for the rest of his life.
He has never shown her an ounce of affection, never wagged his tail, and never given her a single kiss. He simply demands, takes, and expects to be served.
Yet, despite his grumpy demeanor, Jean could not love him more, proving that every dog deserves a safe and loving home for their final years.
