New York Dog Spent Ten Years Without A Real Bed, Then Developed One Surprisingly Human Habit

Wrigley was a senior dog who had never known the comforts of a real home. But after a month of gentle fostering in New York, she discovered soft beds, cozy sweaters, and a soulmate connection she never expected.

Wrigley was a ten-year-old dog who carried the heavy weight of her past. She had visible scars on her face and a hesitant demeanor that hinted at a life devoid of basic comforts.

When Ashley first met the senior dog, it was immediately clear that Wrigley hadn’t been treated very well. The sweet girl had an old soul, but she was completely shut down to the joys of being a dog.

She wasn’t receptive to treats and didn’t even know what toys were. It was as if she had never been given a reason to play or feel safe.

Ashley decided to foster the gentle senior, hoping to show her a better life. The first few days in her new environment were a massive adjustment for Wrigley.

Everything was entirely new to the timid dog. She had never used stairs before, and she was completely unfamiliar with the concept of a soft place to rest.

In fact, Wrigley had never even slept in a bed. Ashley gently introduced her to toys, offered her tasty treats, and slowly showed her what it meant to live the life of a cherished pet.

From Foster To Forever

As the days passed, the senior dog began to come out of her shell. Wrigley started thriving in the quiet, supportive environment Ashley provided.

Ashley had only planned to foster the dog for a short time, but their bond grew incredibly fast. After just a month together, Ashley came to a life-changing realization.

She knew she simply didn’t want to live her life without the sweet senior dog. The temporary foster arrangement officially turned into a forever home when Ashley adopted her.

Becoming A City Girl

With her adoption finalized, Wrigley’s world was about to expand even further. The pair eventually packed up and embarked on a massive cross-country drive.

They ended up moving to New York, completely changing the scenery of Wrigley’s daily life. The senior dog who once knew nothing of comfort was now officially a city girl.

Despite the hustle and bustle of her new surroundings, Wrigley remained grounded by her deep trust in Ashley.

Sleeping Like A Human

One of the most heartwarming changes in Wrigley was her newfound love for sleeping. The dog who had never known a bed quickly became an absolute snuggle bug.

Wrigley doesn’t just sleep on the mattress; she truly sleeps like a human. She carefully places her head on the pillow each night and settles in.

Amazingly, she stays in that exact same position for the entire night. When Ashley wakes up the next morning, her faithful companion hasn’t moved an inch, and she even has a designated blanket on the couch that she adores.

Managing The Golden Years

While Wrigley’s home life is peaceful, she still carries some lingering fears from her past. She struggles quite a bit with car anxiety, getting very stressed when it’s time for a ride.

Ashley suspects she might associate vehicles with being taken to scary places in her previous life. They take it slow, working through the adjustments together.

Wrigley also faces the physical challenges of being a senior dog, including arthritis and hip dysplasia. Her little legs sometimes shake, so their daily city walks are kept to a manageable two blocks.

An Accidental Fashionista

When Ashley first rescued her, Wrigley suffered from bad skin. The veterinarian suggested putting a cone on her or dressing her in a sweater to prevent irritation.

Ashley opted for the sweater, and it unexpectedly sparked a lifelong obsession. Ever since that first outfit, Wrigley has fallen completely in love with wearing clothes.

She now proudly sports turtlenecks, t-shirts, and cozy sweaters to stay comfortable. Ashley affectionately calls her a “little fashionista,” noting that her adorable ears make her look just like Baby Yoda.

A Soulmate Connection

The bond between the two has grown into something truly extraordinary. Ashley even consulted an animal psychic, who confirmed just how deep Wrigley’s devotion runs.

The psychic explained that Wrigley isn’t just happy; she is completely in love with Ashley. The senior dog knows she is finally safe and that she will always be cared for.

It’s a beautiful, mutual feeling that has changed both of their lives for the better. “She’s my little soulmate,” Ashley says, grateful for every gentle moment with her senior girl.
