Frightened Texas Dog Curled Up On The Couch After Everyday Household Sounds Became Too Much
When Hank first arrived at his new home in Texas, he was too scared to even bark. Today, this uniquely built rescue dog has a huge personality and a neighborhood crush.
Spotted On The Local News

Hank’s journey to a better life in Texas started in a rather unexpected place. His future owner was watching television when the local weatherman featured a dog in need of a home.
One look at the screen was all it took. “I don’t know anything about this dog, but I’m applying for him right now,” his new mom recalled thinking.
She didn’t know his full history, but she knew she wanted to give him a second chance. It was a leap of faith that would change both of their lives.
A Timid Arrival

When Hank first came home, it became clear that his past had left some deep emotional scars. He was terrified of a lot of everyday things.
He was so shut down that he barely even barked at first. The simplest household chores sent him into a panic.
The very first time his mom pulled a broom out of the closet, Hank fled into the other room to hide. He just wasn’t comfortable being himself yet.
A Cutting Room Floor Dog

As Hank slowly began to decompress, his mom got to truly appreciate his incredibly unique physical appearance. Nothing on his body looks like it quite fits together.
He boasts a massive nine-inch wide chest, but his little stumpy legs are only five inches long. Top that off with a giant head, and Hank is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
His mom lovingly jokes that he looks like a “cutting room floor dog,” as if someone just took all the leftover pieces and put Hank together. She loves taking pictures that show off his big, wide chest.
Blossoming Into Himself

With patience and love, the terrified dog who hid from the broom started to fade away. Once he finally settled in, Hank absolutely blossomed.
His mom believes he just wasn’t able to be his true self with his former family. But in his new environment, he finally felt safe enough to let his guard down.
He began to show off a massive personality. The quiet dog who never barked suddenly had “personality oozing out of his ears.”
The Girl Across The Street

As Hank grew more confident, he started taking an interest in the world outside his window. That’s when he noticed Penny.
Penny is a cute girl dog who lives right across the street. It didn’t take long for Hank to develop a massive crush on his beautiful neighbor.
Now, he spends a good portion of his day perched on the back of the couch, constantly looking out the window to see if she’s there.
A Daily Routine

Hank’s dedication to watching for Penny is unwavering. If he catches even a glimpse of her, he immediately starts squeaking with excitement.
The feeling seems to be mutual, at least a little bit. Penny sometimes wanders down near his house because she knows Hank is there during the day.
It has become a sweet neighborhood routine, with Hank acting as the loyal, watchful admirer from his living room window.
Acting Like A Doofus

Usually, at least once a day, the two dogs get to meet face-to-face. It’s the highlight of Hank’s afternoon.
However, despite all his confident window-watching, Hank gets incredibly nervous when she’s actually right in front of him.
His mom laughs that he acts like a “total doofus” and doesn’t really know how to flirt very well. He’s just a typical guy who gets completely tongue-tied around his crush.
The Dog He Was Always Meant To Be

Hank’s transformation from a terrified, silent dog to a quirky, romantic neighborhood staple is nothing short of beautiful. He even talks back now.
When his mom asks him questions like, “Want your dinner?” Hank will vocally answer her right back. He always has the power to make the people around him laugh.
Looking at him now, it’s hard to imagine the frightened dog hiding from a broom. As his mom proudly says, he is finally the dog he should have always been.
