California Dog Lost Her “Party Tooth,” And What Her Family Did With It Says Everything About Their Bond
Cocoa’s one-of-a-kind smile and unusual appearance capture hearts instantly. Now in her golden years, she’s enjoying a peaceful life in California filled with sunbeams, daily apples, and deep affection.
An Unforgettable First Impression
When people see Cocoa in person for the very first time, the reaction is almost always the same.
They take one look at her face and immediately start laughing with joy.
Her mom, Lori, knows exactly why her sweet dog brings out such an instant, happy response from everyone she meets.
Cocoa is a dog who simply looks like no other, boasting a beautifully unusual body and a smile that steals the show.
A Second Chance at Life
Lori had never seen a dog quite like Cocoa before she welcomed her into the family.
The sweet pup’s teeth were incredibly prominent, giving her an endearing, cartoonish expression.
When Cocoa was adopted, Lori estimates she was around five or six years old.
Now, years later, the once-spry rescue dog has gracefully entered her “super senior” era.
A Quiet Kind of Love
Unlike many dogs, Cocoa has never been one to run around and play with toys.
She prefers a much calmer lifestyle, watching the world go by at her own gentle pace.
Despite her lack of interest in traditional playtime, she has formed a wonderful bond with the other dogs in the home.
She navigates her pack with a quiet, peaceful energy that everyone respects.
Surprising Moments of Affection
Even though she isn’t overly interactive, Cocoa has her own special ways of showing love.
Every so often, she will surprise Lori by cuddling up to one of the other dogs or gently grooming them.
But her most powerful expressions of affection are reserved for her human mom.
When it’s just the two of them, Cocoa will lock eyes with Lori, offering extended, soulful eye contact for a really long time.
Trading Walks for Sunbeams
In her younger days, Cocoa used to take walks more frequently, but she was never truly a fan of the activity.
The family’s long, steep driveway proved to be a bit too much work for her liking.
Instead of going for a stroll, Cocoa prefers to find the perfect spot outside.
She would much rather just lay around in the warm sun, soaking up the rays in her yard.
The Famous Party Tooth
As Cocoa has aged, her mouth has naturally spread, making her already prominent teeth appear even wider.
Last October, a little incident in the kitchen led to her losing one of her top teeth.
Because it stuck out so much, the family affectionately called it her “party tooth.”
They couldn’t bear to part with it, so they now keep the famous tooth safely stored in a little ceramic box in the living room.
Healthy and Happy
Losing her party tooth did change Cocoa’s appearance slightly, but she still maintains that signature wide-set smile.
Most importantly, her remaining teeth are completely healthy and intact.
Lori makes sure Cocoa gets regular dental cleanings to keep her unique mouth in top shape.
In fact, her teeth do their job perfectly well, allowing her to enjoy her favorite daily snack: fresh apples.
A Refined Lady of Leisure
Cocoa used to do a lot of dancing and spinning around when she was younger, but time has naturally slowed her down.
Her back legs aren’t as strong as they used to be, so her loving family gladly helps her get around the house.
She has traded her spinning routines for a life of pure relaxation and comfort.
Today, Cocoa is exactly what Lori calls her: a perfectly pampered, refined lady of leisure.
