A strangely captivating rescue dog named Grits arrived very sick, but his unbreakable spirit and ragdoll relaxation skills quickly turned a temporary New York foster into a forever home.
A Creature Like No Other
At first glance, it was hard to tell exactly what kind of animal had just arrived.
With his unique features and velvety coat, he looked like a little creature that had crawled out from under a magical bridge.
If a gargoyle suddenly transformed into a soft, plush stuffed animal, it would look exactly like Grits.
Despite his strange and intriguing appearance, this little dog had absolutely no idea the magnetic pull he had on everyone around him.
A New York Rescue
Grits’ journey to a better life started at the Animal Care Centers of NYC.
That is where he crossed paths with Emma, a dedicated animal lover who decided to take him in.
For Emma, bringing Grits home was a completely new experience.
He was the very first boy dog she had ever fostered or adopted, and she immediately felt that this dynamic was going to be different.
A Rough and Sickly Start
