A dedicated Florida rescuer spent hours coaxing a protective mother dog and her hidden puppies out from under a house to give them a second chance at life.
An Urgent Text Message
It all started with a simple text message about a female Florida dog in rough shape.
The Florida rescuer knew she had to act quickly to locate the vulnerable animal before she disappeared.
Upon arriving at the scene, she spotted the stray almost immediately.
The dog was nervous and hesitant, but the Florida rescuer decided to follow her around from a safe distance to see where she was going.
Discovering The Hiding Spot
As she trailed the timid dog, the rescuer watched her slip into a tight opening beneath a house.
The dog had sought refuge in a dark, cramped crawl space.
It quickly became clear that this wasn’t just a stray looking for a place to sleep.
She was a mother, and she was doing everything in her power to keep her babies hidden and safe.
A Heartbreaking Realization
Looking into the dark space, the rescuer felt a wave of emotion.
“It made me incredibly sad that she was alone,” she recalled.

Coaxing Out The Babies

A Three-Hour Mission
Patience was the only way this rescue was going to work.
Slowly but surely, the puppies began to bravely waddle toward the rescuer’s outstretched hands.
“Oh, I got one! Yes, okay,” she celebrated as she secured the first little pup.
After three grueling hours in the dirt, she managed to pull out eight puppies, all of them riddled with fleas.
Returning For Mom
Despite her best efforts, the mother dog was too fearful to come out that first day.
With the puppies safe, the rescuer had to leave the mom behind for the night, vowing to return.
The very next morning, she was back at the crawl space with a plan.
As soon as the mother heard the sound of her babies crying, she popped her head right out, allowing the rescuer to finally secure her.
A Very Full House
With the whole family safely rescued, they headed back to the rescuer’s home for some much-needed TLC.
Suddenly, her household was overflowing with paws and wagging tails.
“Having 10 dogs in my house, plus my five dogs, was a lot of work,” she admitted.
The puppies were playful and energetic, turning her living room into a chaotic but joyful puppy playground.

While fostering the large family was rewarding, the rescuer knew they needed a long-term solution.
She was nervous about finding a rescue with enough space for a mom and eight puppies.
Thankfully, Big Dog Ranch Rescue stepped up to take the entire family under their wing.
After three days of foster care, a volunteer arrived to drive the dogs to the rescue facility.
Waiting For Their Forever Homes
Today, the beautiful mother dog, named Viviana, is safe and learning to trust again.
She is a sweet black pit bull mix, a type of dog that often faces an incredibly difficult time finding a home.
While some of her puppies have been adopted, Viviana and three of her babies are still waiting for their perfect families.
Thanks to one woman’s determination to crawl under a house, this brave mama finally has the safe, loving future she always wanted for her family.
