Missouri Dog Who Looked Like A Prehistoric Creature Emerges With A Whole New Look

A Heartbreaking Sight on the Streets
When people in Missouri first spotted him wandering down the road, it was hard to believe he was a dog at all. His appearance was so unusual that one person described him as looking like a prehistoric creature.
The poor animal’s fur was so severely matted that it appeared as though he had six legs. Seeing him try to move under the weight of all that hair was absolutely heartbreaking.

Arriving at KC Pet Project
Simon was found in Kansas City, Missouri, and brought to the KC Pet Project. The staff immediately recognized the severity of his condition.

A couple of weeks later, potential adopters came into the shelter to meet Simon. The connection was immediate and heartwarming.
They got him settled in a bed, and he began snuggling with them—doing things the staff had never seen him do before.
He was so excited that he started spinning around, a joyful behavior that the adopters recognized from their other dog, Missy.
A Joyful New Beginning
As the adopters scratched and petted him, Simon’s tail went crazy with happiness. He was loving every second of the attention.
The staff noted that he looked as “happy as a cucumber.” It was clear that Simon had finally found his people.
