A Unique Little Face
When she first saw Clifford, he looked incredibly serious.
The two-year-old dog had a cleft palate, which left one of his little teeth visibly poking out. While some might have seen a medical condition, his future mom just thought it was incredibly cute.
She found herself completely obsessed with the little dog.
Despite his unique smile, she felt a strong, immediate connection, thinking to herself, "I feel like he needs me."
Ignoring the Doubts
Adopting a special needs pet can sometimes bring questions from well-meaning friends.
When she mentioned her plans to adopt the two-year-old pup, a couple of people expressed their concerns. They asked if caring for a dog with a cleft palate was going to be a lot of extra work.

He loved going down trails, sniffing everything in sight, and even climbing up rocks.

Today, Clifford is a completely different dog.
