Blind Mama Dog Is Found Living With A Feral Pack In Georgia, But Her Story Is Even Sadder
When a Georgia rescuer finally located a pack of stray dogs she had been searching for, she learned the heartbreaking story of a sweet, blind mama dog who desperately needed help.
Searching For The Pack

When the rescuer first saw the dog named Lady, the timid animal would not approach her.
She had been looking for this specific group of dogs for a week and a half.
Finally, on her way home, she came across the pack of feral dogs.
It was immediately clear that the animals were in very bad shape and needed help.
Left Behind

While observing the pack, the rescuer found a man who had been feeding them.
He explained that the dogs had simply been left behind to fend for themselves.
The kind man had been doing the best he could to care for them on his own.
Determined to help, the rescuer went over and took pictures of all the dogs needing homes.
The Mama Dog’s Struggle

As they spoke, the man began to tell her the heartbreaking story of Lady, the mama dog of the pack.
She had contracted some sort of severe infection while living outside.
Tragically, the infection had caused her to go completely blind.
At one point, a vet didn’t even think she was going to survive.
Immediate Attention Needed

Despite everything she had been through, Lady never gave up.
“I just wanted to, like, cradle her and cuddle her,” the rescuer recalled.
Her main focus became getting Lady to safety first, as the blind dog needed immediate medical attention.
She arranged for the man to drop Lady off so she could get checked out right away.
A Different Dog

Once Lady was away from the stressful environment of the pack, her true personality began to shine.
She was a completely different dog in a safe setting.
The rescuer described her as very sweet and incredibly polite.
She was finally getting the care and attention she had been missing.
Navigating A Dark World

Because of her blindness, Lady developed a unique way of getting around.
She would crouch down to the ground, keeping very low as she walked.
But despite her cautious movements, she absolutely refused to let her lack of sight slow her down.
Her resilience was inspiring to everyone who met her.
Finding A Safe Haven

Knowing Lady needed a special environment to thrive, the rescuer posted her online.
She was desperately trying to find a dedicated foster home for the special needs dog.
Thankfully, a foster stepped up to take her in.
Though she was still pretty shy at first, within a couple of days, Lady started to realize she was truly safe.
A Perfect Fit

As Lady relaxed, a beautiful change came over her.
You could actually see a smile start to form on her face.
When they hit the one-week mark, the rescuer had a strong suspicion that this foster arrangement might turn into a “foster fail.”
She was right. The family officially adopted her, renaming her Pinecone.
Now, she fits in perfectly with her new family and her dog friend Smiley, guaranteed to have the best life going forward.
