A Wobbly But Happy Spirit
When Jeanie goes for a walk, her steps aren’t quite like other California dogs. She is a bit unsteady on her feet, swaying as she tries to find her balance.
Born blind, the sweet pup has always had to navigate a world she cannot see. On top of that, she was born with mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a neurological condition that affects her coordination.
But despite her wobbly walk, Jeanie has a spirit that cannot be contained. She just needed someone to give her a chance to shine.
A Rough Start In Life
Jeanie’s life started with the odds stacked against her. She was found as a tiny puppy alongside her mother and her siblings.
The entire canine family was in rough shape. Every single dog in the litter was either sick or blind, struggling to survive before rescuers stepped in.
Thankfully, they were brought to safety. Jeanie spent almost four months in foster care, waiting patiently for a family who would look past her medical challenges.
An Unexpected Connection
In April 2021, a woman was scrolling through Facebook. She had absolutely no intention of adding a pet to her family at the time.
“I had no business looking for a dog at the time,” she recalled. But then, a photo of a special-needs puppy appeared on her screen.
It was Jeanie. The moment she saw the little blind dog, her heart completely melted. She couldn’t stop thinking about the vulnerable pup.
Meeting Baby Goose
Unable to shake the feeling that this dog belonged with her, she reached out to the rescue. She emailed them to ask if it was possible to set up a meet-and-greet.
She traveled down to meet the puppy in person. Seeing Jeanie’s sweet, gentle nature confirmed everything she had felt through the screen.
She officially adopted the dog, affectionately nicknaming her “Baby Goose.” Now, they just had to figure out how to navigate life together.
Guiding With Sound

As Jeanie settled in, something incredible happened. While her normal walk was wobbly, her bursts of energy unlocked a hidden superpower.
Whenever she gets excited and happy, Jeanie gets the zoomies. “When she’s doing her zoomies, she’s her most coordinated self,” her mom explained.
She starts with little soft turns, feeling out the space. Then, as her confidence peaks, she picks up speed, doing leaps and unique, joyful movements.
Leading The Pack
Jeanie’s big, silly zoomies are a spectacle that commands attention. When she goes out and starts running, the other dogs can’t help but stare.
Fascinated by her unique leaps and bounds, the other dogs often follow her, creating a literal “train” of dogs trailing behind the blind pup.
But Jeanie doesn’t mind the audience. She is a fiercely independent little dog who just loves the feeling of the wind in her fur.
A Beautiful Transformation
Over time, the love and care Jeanie received have worked wonders. As she has gotten older, the symptoms of her CH have actually improved a bit.
Her mom is now a passionate advocate for special-needs dogs, proving that they can live incredibly full and joyful lives.
Watching Jeanie transform into a confident “super dog” has been the greatest reward. As her mom perfectly puts it, “She does not know she’s any different.”
