California Dog Was Left Tied To A Street Sign, But Something Beside Him Made The Scene Even Harder To Ignore
When two different dogs found themselves alone and frightened on the streets of California, compassionate strangers stepped up to change their lives forever.
A Heartbreaking Note

A concerned neighbor made an urgent call after spotting a dog tied to a street sign.
Approaching a large, abandoned dog always requires a bit of caution, but this situation came with a bittersweet clue.
A note left behind explained that the dog was a "good boy" and pleaded for someone to help him find a loving home.
Escaping the Summer Heat

The rescuer quickly realized there was absolutely nothing to fear.
As soon as the big dog saw his new friend, his whole body started wiggling with joy. He was an absolute "big mush."
Since it was the peak of summer, getting the dehydrated dog out of the heat and into a cool environment was the immediate priority.
Daily Shelter Visits

The rescuer took the dog home to provide immediate food and water, but they simply couldn’t foster him long-term.
With a heavy heart, they brought the dog, now named Juniper, to the San Diego Humane Society.
But the rescuer couldn’t just walk away. They visited Juniper every single day, bringing treats and watching the sweet dog squish himself against the kennel cage for pets.
The Perfect Match

Juniper’s sweet disposition quickly worked its magic. After just a few days in the shelter, he was moved into a comfortable foster home.
Soon after, a family traveled down from LA to meet the goofy, funny boy.
It was a perfect match, leaving his original rescuer filled with immense pride and happiness for saving him that day.
A Patient Wait at the Gym

Not long after, another rescue story began unfolding outside a Planet Fitness.
A small dog was found waiting patiently by the gym entrance.
He looked incredibly scared, but his eyes seemed to be silently begging for someone to help him.
Wrapped in a Gym Towel

A kind stranger scooped up the frightened pup using a gym towel and gently placed him in their car.
Once they arrived home, the exhaustion of living on the streets finally caught up with the little dog.
Within minutes, he was completely passed out. It was as if a massive wave of relief washed over him now that he was finally safe.
A Fitting Name

A quick scan revealed the dog had no microchip, meaning he needed a fresh start and a brand-new name.
The rescuer, who serves in the military, asked their troops at work for some creative ideas.
One of them suggested "Pluto," a clever nod to the pup being found outside of Planet Fitness.
A Beautiful New Mission

Pluto quickly settled in, making friends with a local pug and enjoying fun trips to Petco.
But his calm temperament sparked a much bigger idea. Knowing fellow military members with PTSD, Pluto’s rescuer realized the gentle dog would make a wonderful therapy animal.
During a test run to the airport to see off a deploying troop, Pluto did incredibly well, proving his tough street days were far behind him and a beautiful new purpose was just beginning.
