Florida Husky Was Too Much For His First Owner, But Tiny Rescue Kittens Saw Something Else In Him

Two Florida rescue dogs who were never supposed to stay ended up finding their true calling as the most gentle, loving foster parents to dozens of rescue cats.

An Unexpected Surrender

When a young puppy named Kylo first arrived in rescue, his future was entirely uncertain.

He had originally been gifted to someone as a puppy, but his boundless energy proved to be too much to handle.

Unable to keep up with his needs, his owner made the difficult decision to surrender him.

His new foster mom took him in, fully intending for it to be a temporary arrangement.

She had a strict rule about not keeping the puppies she fostered, but Kylo’s sweet nature immediately began to test her resolve.

The Ultimate Test

At the time of Kylo’s arrival, his foster mom was also caring for a room full of rescue cats.

She kept the cats safely separated in one room, unsure of how a boisterous young dog would react to them.

One morning, she decided it was time for a careful introduction and opened the door.

To her complete surprise, it was like kittens were flying out of the room, rushing straight toward the new dog.

She held her breath, worried about what might happen next, but Kylo simply stood there and politely sniffed his tiny new friends.

A Beautiful Morning Routine

From that day forward, it became abundantly clear that Kylo absolutely adored cats.

The kittens were completely unafraid of him, eagerly climbing up the baby gate just to go nose-to-nose with their canine protector.

Every single morning, Kylo’s favorite part of the day was rushing over to say hello to his feline babies.

When they called out to him with tiny meows, he would get incredibly excited, eager to shower them with gentle kisses.

Each kitten had a different way of interacting with him, but they all craved his affection.

Saying Hard Goodbyes

Because Kylo’s tiny friends were fosters, their time together was always meant to be temporary.

As the kittens grew big and strong enough to be adopted, Kylo seemed to understand that they were leaving.

He would faithfully follow his foster mom to the door to say his final goodbyes to the babies he had helped raise.

His mom could see the sadness in his eyes whenever a kitten left the house.

To comfort him, she would gently remind him that there would always be more babies who needed his love.

Another Soul Seeking Refuge

Kylo isn’t the only rescue dog whose life was forever changed by the love of rescue cats.

At a local cat sanctuary, a discarded dog suddenly appeared on the property, desperately seeking shelter.

She was lost, freezing cold, and absolutely terrified of the world around her.

The sanctuary founder took her in and simply named her “Dog,” as she never intended to keep a canine at a cat rescue.

But as the days turned into weeks, no one ever came forward to claim the frightened girl.

Earning A Permanent Spot

Despite her deep fears, Dog desperately wanted to be loved and accepted.

The sanctuary staff began taking her out for gentle walks, slowly introducing her to the resident cats.

Little by little, the sanctuary cats started approaching her, lovingly rubbing against her legs.

At first, Dog looked completely bewildered by the feline affection, unsure of what to make of it.

However, the gentle purrs and headbutts slowly helped her realize she was finally safe.

The Feral Cat Named Pig

The most surprising bond formed between Dog and a feral sanctuary cat named Pig.

Pig was incredibly skittish, choosing to live on the porch and never allowing a human to touch him.

But as Dog passed through the porch each day, Pig became completely enamored with the gentle canine.

When the sun was shining, Dog would lay outside in the grass, and the untouchable cat would confidently approach.

Pig would nuzzle right up against Dog, allowing the sweet rescue pup to offer the comfort he couldn’t accept from people.

A Safe Haven For The Broken

Today, both Kylo and Dog have found their permanent places in the world as honorary cat protectors.

Dog has become a permanent resident at the sanctuary, where her official job is to keep the peace and help socialize the felines.

By interacting with the cats, she helps prove to potential adopters that the sanctuary’s kitties are dog-friendly.

Meanwhile, Kylo continues to make his foster home even more loving, eagerly awaiting the next batch of tiny kittens to nurture.

Though neither dog was supposed to stay, their extraordinary empathy for vulnerable animals proved they were exactly where they were meant to be.
